I have a 4Runner with kdss. Very smooth ride.
Grand Cherokee has better interior.
Really depends on what you deem valuable. I chose 4Runner for resale value.
I also don't have any kids. Only 1 row of seats but sits my nephew and niece quite comfortably in car seats. I think you can ask for the 3rd row option.
For kids, Highlanders are really awesome. My sister had one. Looks kind of like a minivan though

Love my Jeep Grand Limited. Incredible ride but yes, literally waiting on the inevitable breakdown. Have always bought "smart" cars, non turbo audi, passat and finally said F it, want what I want regardless of the issues.
Bought a new one in 2015 and it only has 30k at this point so that could be whats saving me.
Looks great too.
Looking to trade it back in for a new one to avoid the inevitable issues but damn its been great so far.

I would go with the 4Runner. They are all great vehicles but the resale of the 4Runner is better. I have a 2008 4Runner and love it. It has 215k miles and I have no issues whatsoever.

Jeep will cost you a fortune in maintenance and repairs. Highlander is very comfortable, 4Runner is bullet proof.

I get the GC hate because historically they've been bad but I bought a 2013 GC Overland, put 70k miles on it, and it never broke down. Just traded it in for a 2017. I also bought an extended warranty just in case but have not had to use it yet.

Have a 2010 Traverse and it’s been nothing short of amazing. 160k miles and drives like the day we bought it. Two struts, a $600 AC issue, tune up, tires and brakes. Just my experience as an actual owner.

Grand Cherokees hold their value very well. The hate for grand Cherokees on this board is ignorant.

But OP, till Jeep gets away from their 9 speed tranny, stay away. It's f'in garbage. Father has been buying Jeep Cherokee for 30 years, and he finally stopped, he absolutely hated the 9 speed tranny they use. And they continue doubling down on the stupid thing.

The Grand Cherokee uses the 8 speed, IIRC, which is very good. The smaller Cherokee uses the 9 speed, which is the one that has issues - mainly a tuning issue.

We also have a Highlander limited right now and it's a great car too. That's why my original comment was OP cant go wrong with any of these choices. I'm literally speaking from experience having owned GC's and a Highlander, not just talking out my arse like others.

Is this where you pretend that your one experience trumps plenty of evidence over the years that the Jeep will not be as reliable as the Toyotas on average? You've had good experiences, and that fine, but if reliability is a concern, the Toyotas are better choices.
