Those kids don’t even know who Robert E. Lee is. I am all for freedom of speech, those kids just wanna cause trouble.

Secession wasn’t un-Constitutional when it happened

Rainbow flags don't represent treason.

Sounds like viewpoint discrimination, but that's the problem with the Tinker standard. It incentivizes disruptive behavior aimed at prohibiting the wearing of clothing featuring images with which you disagree. If all the Christians in the school became disruptive because of a rainbow flag or gay pride shirt, do you think the school would do the same thing? What about whites with a Malcolm X shirt? These kinds of policies benefit those most willing to throw a temper tantrum at the sight of an image that offends them.

The US never tried Jefferson Davis for treason because they thought they might lose the case

You could spend a semester just on the Compact Theory and the Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions.

I remember one time I dressed as 2pac and went to school...red wings jersey, red bandana tied around my head....because I thought it was funny. I was a dumb teen. I was 9n campus for about 15 minutes before I got sent home for my own safety.

You know what....it was the right call to send my arse home.

The school may have just saved these kids from a fight.

Suspended?

That's retarded. Sent home to change would be appropriate

The kid's right to free speech wasn't taken away here.

And for those saying that he shouldn't have been punished for wearing that based on free speech, is it cool for kids to wear a hoody with a swastiska on it?

How would that be any different than what happened here?

Emotionally fragile people think both are offensive.
