People kill themselves because of mental health issues. Everyone gets bullied to varying extents, and it's hard or impossible to tell how much is normal and how much crosses the line and how a particular adolescent is taking it. Teens don't like to communicate everything with their parents, and this makes things difficult for even concerned and active parents. It seems like every time I see suicide brought up the framing seems to be off. From how I see things anyway.

Girl seemed like a normal preteen girl. There are pictures of her on her moms Facebook from the snow on Friday and she looks so happy.

This happened Saturday. Hung herself.

This is just fricking terrible. Can you provide a back story about what led to her taking her own life?

I am not sure this is a fair statement, unless you personally know the parents. A lot of people that are bullied keep it to themselves for various reasons (embarrassment, not wanting to relive it at home, not wanting parents to step in).

I can attest to this. I took some pretty severe bullying when I was a kid. I never mentioned it to my parents. Just wanted to be done with it when I got home.

My dad talks about the crap they did back in the day and it was way worse than the “bullying” of today

exactly, people learned to toughen up and werent told to scream at the sky and create safe spaces

its all a direct result of liberal cucks making spanking your kids and teaching them how to grow up and that everyone does NOT get participation trophies just for trying, because if you are not the winner, then you are a loser, but according to the libtards that is child abuse

Dude shut the frick up. You’re coming off so ignorant right now. You’re blaming liberals and safe spaces for a 12 year old girl killing herself. She’s a fricking kid. Jesus

This really concerns me.
I have a 13 year old sister who is dealing with bullying and fitting in. She's normal but still has to go to counseling.

Older people want to say our generation is just soft but it's a far different world now than it was 50 years ago. Kids are under far more pressure.

Probably but not as prevalent.

That being said they also didn’t send you to jail for beating a bully’s arse and teaching them an important life lesson.

I think there’s a direct correlation between these incidents and when we started telling our kids it wasn’t okay to stand up for yourself.

Interesting this was said. My wife and I were talking about bullying last night as I was making comments about back when we were younger. And she made that exact comment. We are both in our early 50s and I guess it was different back them. You might have gotten bullied but it was only at school, or maybe the neighborhood, or at the park. With social media now days it's 24/7 and there is no escape.
It puts things in a different light. Sad story regardless of the details, couldn't imagine going through that as a parent.

Well let’s see. What can be done about social media... hmmmmm hmmmm Oh I got! Turn off the computer or phone. Social media goes away.

We had probably 6-10 suicides in my high school during the 80s it happens, it sucks, and yes this kids parents failed.

My kids can be called whatever someone wants to call them they know who they are and that they’re loved unconditionally (unless they turn liberal then all bets are off).
