Life changing info here.
Eta - you forgot to put how much it costs him to buy the actual plane. Which was right under $40k. Plus, fuel $30/hour, etc etc.
Your cost listed is basically bullshite compared to your title.

That is not expensive....at all

Insurance and hangar rent alone are more than $3500 per year under most circumstances

Well some of us do and it is a shite load more expensive than prices quoted above for the Cessna

No, you don't. Frankly, I am surprised you didn't misspell "G6".

My company has a Citation Ultra. The old saying is true. If it Flies, Floats, or fricks it's cheaper to rent it.

We have toyed with the idea of buying a small plane, but when I look at the costs for everything, it's just too expensive for the way we would use it.
I do have a neighbor who has an experimental ultralight, and he keeps it in his garage.

You obviously know nothing about actually owning an airplane.
Costs are much higher than that.

His costs are lower than average - he clearly bought a very used airframe and he has a commercial rating so his insurance is lower than average.

I have a client that leases his plane back to a flight school.
he says he gets positive cash flow on it. probably includes a depreciation cost element on that but I have no reason to not believe him.

I'll take 3 please. Let's all get one and get out of the left lane!
And someone concerned about your use of the word buy: in the video the man explains that is an interest only loan payment. While technically correct that he does not own the plane because he hasn't paid anything towards the principal of the loan, he may get to depreciate it and that can reduce his income taxes substantially. And he might write the interest off on the loan as well.

Cessna 172: The airplane the fricking peasants buy when they think they have money
EDIT: I bet they fly it themselves, too. How vulgar.

You forgot to include funeral costs after it crashes.
