Be sure to add Tyler, Texas and Dallas along with the "heat dome". Has your research show the summer precipitation along the South Louisiana coast is declining?
Last summer the "heat dome", the summer parked high pressure system built out of Mexico into NE Texas. This year it is out west and for some reason migrated north. But I suspect before the end of July and August that H on the map will set up right over Tyler/Dallas.
When I was a kid growing up in SWLa, the main driver in summer was the Bermuda high which caused onshore flow from the gulf and with daytime heating, rain in abundance.

A FB memory popped up last week about the temp on that day in 2023 reaching 102 degrees. We have mainly topped out in the lower 90s in New Iberia so far this summer.

Growing up in East, TX, I don’t mind the high heat high humidity as much as the high heat low humidity. I’ve never felt hotter and more miserable than Vegas in August. But….. that just means more girls wearing virtually nothing at the pools.

Did.my Basic Training there at Ft.Jackson in 1999. The ambient temp our first day was 105. Guys from the NE and Upper Midwest were dropping like flies. That place is gates of Hell hot.

I'll just say that it was hot today in Denham Springs, La. My AC hasn't stopped running since about 1 pm. Are there hotter places? Certainly but if you're hot you're hot. Period.

Gainesville, it is almost never seen to get to 100. Unlike Houston that will have 50+ of those days
Not saying Houston isn’t hot but the record number of 100 degree days was 46. Like last summer we had a ton and it sucked but that’s not the norm
Most years Houston has 4 or 5
Summers still blow

Houston is a hell hole. People only come her for jobs and to get away from how dysfunctional Louisianastan is.
I’m about done here. I did what I needed to do and time to find better climate.

Bakersfield & The Mojave area have to be up there. Maybe not #1, but close.

Hottest I've ever perceived was in vegas.
People go outside in Vegas? I never leave the casino.

New Orleans has some breeze in certain areas off the water, Houston has more concrete and no breeze, it just f’n sucks. I’ve been in Houston for last decade - it’s much hotter than Nola.

I’ve been to all the places you listed except Death Valley, and I disagree on Houston being the hottest.
Leesville Louisiana is actual hell on earth. I feel bad for every poor bastard stationed at Fort Polk.

Houston sounds miserable to me. Urban sprawl, searing heat, high humidity. Illegals streaming in. Not sure why it is so glorified on this board.
Because half you fricks live here.

I'm in Vegas right now and today was the hottest I have ever felt. I grew up in South Louisiana, and this had it beat.
I'll say it feels more miserable back home, but as far as just straight heat, this shite has LA beat.
The feeling of the sun here is just hard to describe. It's still hot in the shade, but it's a world of difference. Step out into the sun and you just roast.

I was in Las Vegas in 2005, which is one of the hottest summers ever recorded there. The heat can be unreal, but on the misery scale it doesn't even compare to a New Orleans parking lot at 2pm in late July/early August after a morning shower and the rain evaporating off the asphalt at 93 degrees and 85% humidity.
I'm a retired mailman of 30 years who worked outside daily in both Vegas and New Orleans heat. The New Orleans humidity definitely saps your energy more, especially when you have the days where it's sunny all day until mid afternoon. Then the pop up showers come along and dump rain for 15 - 20 minutes, disappearing as quickly as they showed up. Now, the sun's back out and you can literally see the steam coming off of everything. Just seeing that kinda wilts you.
The Vegas dry heat is tricky in that you have to drink lots of fluids even if you aren't thirsty or sweating. I'd switch between water and PowerAde, to keep the electrolytes in me. The worst kept secret in Vegas is that whatever the news tells you that the temps are, add at least 5 degrees...especially if you're in open desert areas or by Lake Mead. Laughlin is even worse.
My brother has lived here in Vegas for more than 30 years and like me is originally from New Orleans. He's a retired Marine who served in Desert Storm as well as Saudi Arabia. They did summertime desert training at 29 Palms and Death Valley. He said even that couldn't prepare him for the hell that is Middle East desert summer.

Yet without a doubt the absolute hottest I’ve ever been was shooting an archery tournament (ASA world championship) in August in Albany, Ga.
I’ve lived a few different places, Phoenix included. One August I got sent to do some electrical work in Tifton, Ga. Holy frick it was hot. After the first day my buddy got in the truck and said, man, where the frick ARE we? It’s not this hot at home (in swla).
