Fountain sucks. There is too much deviation in the co2 level coming from tap. Also, way more co2 explodes out of solution when poured off of tap. And even further more with the temperature drop from the syrup, to mixing with the carb water to the ice. There is no consistency from tap to tap.
I do drink out of plastic bottles frequently. And I’ve never noticed any discernible difference between bottle and can.

Plus your experience is totally in the hands of the people that clean that shite. I know when I had a job that had a soda fountain, it was fricking disgusting the run the lines in the morning.
