Do the people in charge of tourn get to keep the money or do they get charged by the facility/town to host ?

How do you charge someone money to come to something you don’t own?

I’m assuming they have to rent these facilities.
Someone told me once the park keeps the concessions.
Just curious last one I went to it was 8 bucks per day any one older than 6.
Steep.

Went to another in Lafayette area earlier in month and it was no gate fee for anyone.

Generally the people running the tournament keep the money and pay for everything out of that. Employees to run concessions, the food in the concessions, electricity, security, etc.

For a weekend tournament we'd pay around 300.00. Food, gas, admission, place to stay etc.

Every park might have different setups depending on if it’s private or public and even then, they may have their own rules.

It’s the difference between a travel ball millionaire and a travel ball BILLIONAIRE.

I’d imagine some has to mow the lawn, clean the restroom, permit the events, clean up the trash, staff security potentially etc....

Everything they do is free. They're just skimming off the top of you.

Facilities. The ones that we played at where it was pretty steep it was evident what they did, each field had fresh dirt and a pile of fresh dirt to use as fuller between games, grass was well manicured, the fields looked immaculate.... parking spots were spray-painted in the grass fields next-door, etc.

That may be par for the course for some of you guys, but when I saw all of that I had absolutely zero problems with paying the gate fee.

At our Rec, the host team keeps the gate. They pay a field rental fee and we keep the concessions.

I will sometimes umpire a travel ball game and have been paid out of the gate.

at the very least, each ump cost money per game...plus the trophies/rings that are given out have a cost...other than that, it is a fund raiser/money maker...

Because, unlike the OP, you have at least a shred of decency and even a little common sense.
OP also is nagging his neighbor about driving a concrete truck through his yard so OP can pour a driveway on his property.

I coached high school softball for years and our biggest fundraiser was hosting a tournament with 16 Varsity teams and 8 JV teams.

We got to use the softball complex for free because it is owned by the County and the director saw helping schools in the County as a community service.

The gate paid for the umpires, line paint, trophies, and two new softballs for each game.

We ran two concession stands and this is where our profit came from.

The tournament started at 4:30 Friday afternoon and ran until 5 or 6 on Saturday with the Championship game.

We made about 6,000 for the weekend.

This funded our program pretty well and paid for someone other than me to cut the grass on the school’s field.
