I'm about done with my 2013 Sierra. 140k miles, mostly normal wear and tear. Needs some work and sensors seem to be aging out. In the process of changing the throttle body and waiting on a 2-way OBD2 tool to try to reprogram the idle. Tires about end of life. Just put a new battery in as well. Main seal and oil pan gasket leak a little that will cost money. 5.3L V8.

Before this one, I had a 2007 F150 that had tranny issues twice.

I'm literally a blank slate. Every thread and webpage seems to circle around Ford being great, the rest are all snake bit. Not sure I need full sized. Like most, I'd like a reliable simple truck that isn't a rip-off. The Sierra 0% caught my eye, but everyone shits on GMC transmissions. (had an Acadia tranny go out at 120k)

WTF is the play now days? Toyota seems to be circling the drain as well in reliability. I'm lost on 2026 trucks. I'd love low interest and a long warranty.

Everything is super expensive and nothing is made to last anymore it seems. I have a 2020 Tundra bc I always heard of their reliability. No complaints thus far.

Plenty of life left. Quit being lazy and cheap and get it fixed

This is the answer

But OP has new truck-itis. Only one cure for that.

The Frontier is a good solid option. That V6 is a great engine. Not as big as you are used to but unless you’re using it as a heavy duty work truck, the Frontier is a good choice.

I need to be able to carry sheets of plywood and a family of 4 comfortably but beyond that I'm pretty open. I've seen OT comments about the Frontier and I have zero experience but a mental image of most Nissan buyers that is less than favorable. Worth a look I suppose.

Second the frontier recommendation. Nissan has been making that v6 engine for a very long time and its rock solid. Ride is great. Steering is the only thing we don't love. But overall is a great truck. Highly recommend.

The frontier is the most reliable pickup sold today

Just as it was for the last 15 years.

I've been shopping for full size truck options for about a year and the consensus is that all truck brands have taken huge dips in reliability since Covid. Toyota engines are ticking time bombs, GMC/Chevy has a new V8 coming out next year that probably needs a year or two to ensure it works as intended, Stellantis is Stellantis, Nissan doesn't make the Titan anymore, and Ford is probably top of the reliability list but just don't do much for me.

I'm hoping Toyota ditches the current twin turbo and comes out with a new V8 in the next year or two because their reputation is in the gutter right now.

The issues you mentioned are minor, especially compared to a monthly note on a new one.
Tires needed is normal and theyll take that amount away on the trade.

F-150 with 5.0 engine.

Have always driven Fords but decided to give RAM a try 2.5 years ago. Probably one of the best driving trucks out there but had all kinds of crazy electronic gremlins going on so I traded it in on a F-150 XLT w/302A package an the 5.0 engine. Getting maybe 1 MPG less than the Ford 2.7 EB and RAM 3.0 SST but just decided to move on from turbo'd engines.

That may ultimately be where I land. There's been some small constant issues. The interior plastic is all shite and it's had a rain leak a few times. It feels older than 14 years old. Trying to get the throttle body reset to work (3 minute idle, 1 minute off, 3 minute idle...) and it revving to 3k RPM for 3 solid minutes made me not want to frick with it any longer. Then walking around and realizing the tires have less life than I expected (feels like I just changed them but it was several years back) triggered the f-this-truck feeling. Got enough stress in my life than to hit the point of truck life where things really start failing. My tolerance for it is diminished I suppose.

I have 21 Ram with 170k
One o2 sensor replacement and that’s it

I’ve had many Fords and GM products but this has been the best one by far
