That’s the same bullshite figures they gave me. Don’t take it from them. I said “what is it without all the non needed bull shite?”

Got it down to $5200. Took her home 8 hours later and gave her the pills myself.

An extra 2k was them keeping her a couple of days, I did that myself and saved the money.

We have a yellow lab that ate two bouncy balls our son left out. We had no idea until he started acting the same way as yours. He eventually threw one of them up, but he kept riefusng to eat anything else. We were able to get him in with our normal vet the next morning. $3000 later, they removed the other one from his stomach. It's been four years since that incident without any other issues. Needless to say, we have a zero tolerance policy for bouncy balls in our house.

My black lab did the same thing, she ate part of a crawfish sack. Stopped eating, she would barely move. Vet wanted to do exploratory surgery, I didn’t want to pay that, so I took her home. Next morning she was happy running around the yard, I found a big pile of shite with a crawfish sack in it.

Update: X-rays shows an obstruction but I couldn’t make out what it was and neither could they. He’s going to need surgery and be in the hospital until Monday. I could tell the doctor was hesitant to give me the estimate but she she gave it I didn’t even hesitate

Basically the exact same situation mine was in. For whatever reason mine only cost like $1,000-$1,500 but not much time for you to shop around. They told me the 24-48 hours after surgery would be touch and go due to potentially dead tissue but my pup made it through and hopefully so will yours

Same thing happened to one of my mutts right after we took her home (found her on the street). They had to do a bowel resection. Very expensive but twelve years later not another issue

Best of luck and good vibes

Doctor called this afternoon and said surgery went fine and he did well with it and the anesthesia but they were still going to hold him a day or two to make sure. She said whatever the object was was plastic and square and she sent me a picture and I have no clue what it was or where he’d have gotten it. They also did some procedure to where his stomach wouldn’t flip I can’t remember the name though. That was $190 and seemed worth it because I figured with my bad luck that would happen down the road.

Thwnk you to everyone who was supportive and gave me advice!

I’m sorry to hear about that man. I did the same with my husky but it was $6000 to remove his spleen because of cancer. I got an extra year with him so it was worth it

I had a scare a couple days ago with my beloved female German shepherd. She was acting like she was drunk and stumbling around, could not stand up straight for at least 45 seconds.

I was freaking out but then started being totally normal. I have decided she accidentally hit her head on my metal desk playing under my feet with my other female gsd while I was working. Poor girl almost knocked herself out

Good job. Deep chested dogs can have their stomachs flip if they run around after eating or drinking a lot of water and can also kill them. Might as well do it now

Great news! Can't wait for you to have your boy back with you. Cook him up something good to eat for his return home

Sally says to tell PupPup to be a good boy, don't chew his boo-boo and get well soon!

Eta.. Sally is 100% fine now- this is from when she was sick over the holidays. Doggies are particularly skilled at getting seriously ill on holidays and weekends.

I say it every time these threads come up. $35 a month pet insurance would have saved you thousands.

Our big dog got Cancer at 4 years old. Had to have her Spleen removed and other surgeries. $6500 bill, insurance paid all but $100.

We talked my in laws into getting it. Their dog ate a rubber ball and needed exploratory surgery, insurance paid out for that too.
