The weather forecasts have been off for the last two months. I realize it’s nature and it’s impossible to get exactly right. But they’ve been dead arse wrong by a lot lately.
To me, it's been this way for a year or so. The more technology we have, the worse the weather forecasts become.

Edit: I'm referring to the rain forecasts. They usually get the temperatures right.

75°F at 5:00am this morning when I went out to run.

Quite a contrast from the 77°F it is at 5:00am in August.

In central Oklahoma I run every morning at 6 am. It has been 80+ all summer. We finally got a break and had a few mornings in the 60s. It felt so good.

Then, September 29th I go out to run and see that it is 80 degrees and humid. Found out that it was the highest morning low ever recorded on that date.

The last five years or so have been something fricking else when it comes to the lack of rain down here. I assume it’s some El Niño/La Niña bullshite I don’t understand

I’m just trying to get some rain. Haven’t had any in over a month.

Same here in Alabama. Need the rain. was promised we'd get quite a bit, but every updated forecast from the NWS reduces the rainfall totals.

It's not 80%. Because from June through August, their forecast will be accurate......
Partly cloudy, high in the 90s, chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
Every day in the summer...

The problem is the models. All these “weather guys” get phd’s and sell their souls to the models. They have no skin in the game. If they are wrong they blame science.

In the old days they had to lock themselves in smoke filled rooms and not come out until they legged something down. And if they were wrong they could expect a fistfight when they took their family out to dinner on Friday night.

Now it’s just “Oh gee, sorry. El Niño”.

Surprised it hadn't been mentioned. NOAA and the national weather service took a staffing hit under DOGE last year and lost 17% of their staff.

There were claims from NOAA that it was going to affect the accuracy of their forecasts.

"Legislators and administrators" it says have started hiring back some of the staffing so maybe they cut too deep there. I didn't know they had started trying to hire some of the layoffs back but don't care enough to dig further.

AI models are developed by humans, right? Could the AI models be biased to predict the worst possible outcomes? Weather people are devotees of climate change. And the NWS isn’t bashful about its climate change agenda. Maybe they’re purposely forecasting doom and gloom and it just ain’t happening.

How’s that for a conspiracy theory ?
