What happens when two helicoptered students, meet, fall in love and marry?

Is it a battle of which parent pair have the stronger and bigger and richer blades?

If you dig deep enough into their brains, I think you would find that waiting in the carpool line is how they pretend to be “busy” while fricking around on social media for an hour.
Precisely. I must admit, I do enjoy that quiet time dicking around on the phone when I get the opportunity to go.

It's kind of like taking a dump: Your situation is uncontestable and above reproach.

That’s what i came to ask. If it’s a high schooler walking less than 1/2 mile to St. Michael’s, yeah, they are p-words.

Many kids rode their bikes to school when I was in elementary school back in the 70’s. Some from several miles away crossing major highways. Many kids and teens today are emotionally stunted by their overprotective parents.

People on here argue kids need to have cell phones on them at all times so they can know where their kids (some high school) are and be able to get in touch with them. And what about if there’s a school shooting!

what happens when they go to college in a real city
They block traffic, end up in student conduct hearings, spend a great deal of effort explaining to the profs and staff that they are excellent students and that any shortcomings are the fault of the school/teacher/subject/whatever. Ultimately, they fail out, but not before making total shite-heeled asses out of themselves (parents and child). The process can take as long as 4 semesters, depending on how deluded/wealthy the parents are.

Working in higher ed, you would be surprised how often the helicopter is circling even for college students.

Our office has had parents calling the school unnecessarily a lot lately. Not sure what has been going on this summer, but the helicopter parenting has been out of control.

I believe I've said it before on here, but if you don't trust your child to handle their own business even after high school, then your child should be going to a community college near home until he or she is responsible enough to handle themselves. Because the involvement from parents is getting ridiculous.

I bike over 20 miles 2-3 times a week in the morning.

But from reading your posts it sounds like you’ve got a$$ cancer so I’ll pray for you.

Is there something wrong about riding your bike a couple of miles to school?

It's about as reasonable as tacking on a few extra minutes of commute time due to school traffic.

Our daughter was in the 8th grade last year and had student government after school on Tuesdays. They were done by 430. I could easily pick her up after work at 440. School had a stroke. 10 minutes. All manner of people still coming and going every day of the week until 5-6 o'clock. They told her she would have to quit the student council if she could not be picked up before 440. We told the school it wasn't going to happen and it was a public place and she would stay on the school property until one of us got there at 440. They weren't happy about it but she did not have to quit the student council.

The high school that she is going to this year is about 1/4 mile from the middle school. She started going there every day after school, including Tuesdays after student council, to help the high school band with whatever they needed (she was in the middle school band and is now in the high school band). The middle school had a STROKE about her walking that 1/4 mile. With police directing traffic at the one road crossing she had to make. They were convinced something was going to happen to her.

There is a waffle house about 1/4 mile from the high school and every evening it is full of high school students. She would walk to it every once in a while and meet friends from band. The middle school was apoplectic that we would allow a 14 year old girl to walk 1/2 mile in broad daylight on sidewalks with police directing traffic at every intersection because there are hundreds of high school kids walking back and forth...there is also a convenience store at the waffle house. From 230-7 just about everyday of the week the sidewalks are full of kids yet somehow the middle school was terrified that someone was going to single our daughter out and get her. Irrational fear is a strong yet costly mental illness.

We fully believe in free range parenting. Our kids know how to cross a street, are pretty wise in the way of the world and need to be out of their parents control at times to become fully functional. The younger parents around us and are our kids friends parents can't stand the thought of their kid being out of sight. It is actually disturbing...there is more to it that simple fear, it verges on a sickness.

We settled this issue on Next door already. We are all supposed to park at Greg's house.
