It’s stories like these that just break my heart. Good hard working people who can’t catch a break.

Has that rate of intensification ever even been observed? Seems insane

Yeah it’s happened a few times. Hurricane Patricia in 2015 increased 120mph in 24 hours.

Do you have any thoughts as to what type of strength landfall would need to
get hurricane force winds x miles inland traveling at close to 20mph rate?

Lets say this, how many hours would a cat 4 need to become a tropical storm traveling at 20 mph inland?

you keep repeating this like it has anything to do with me. its not a gotcha like you think it is. quit being a dipshit. I never argued that there were men zipping off of the water towers. Posting a tweet of information is not me banging the table. get the frick over yourself. what's factual is you are a dumbass that can't understand the context of posting thoughts and posting information going around on a message board. you sir are the false narrative.

That’s a great question. Using Michael which was traveling around 15-17mph as a gauge, maybe 10-12 hours? So up to 250 miles inland perhaps?

Did you try dividing by 1.151?

OT Answer: 3.50 hours

Real Answer: too many friggin variables to determine , but the forecast right now is to have Tropical Storm winds up near Atlanta late morning Friday

yea but saying "tropical storm" winds is a bit too vague for what i'm trying to figure out. If this thing catches fire, could make for a unique scenario where we get legit 80-90 mph hour up to 200-250ish miles inland. Huge difference between a very narrow 45 mph center vs a more organized low end cat 1 still churning.

Who was the guy claiming he was sniping people from the top of the Superdome?

On topic, she's about to get her name, looking pretty good this morning. I truly feel for those in the path, she looks like she's going to be a monster. Tampa needs to prepare for some serious storm surge.

We'll probably get a name and maybe a sticky at the 10am update. 60ish or so hours away from landfall.

I thought they already named it Helene?

Not officially, but a foregone conclusion. 11am advisory will likely be it

I could see moving like 60 miles inland. Still an easy drive to the beach. But I cannot see moving anywhere near the coastline unless its in a home I can pull behind my truck or just have f-you money. The middle class people buying homes a 5min drive from the waves are not making good decisions to put it kindly.
