I have a flight Thursday evening into Pensacola. Trying to decide if I’ll be ok or if wind in the area will be too bad to land and I need to make other plans.

That would be bad. And an incredible rate of RI to go from PTC 9 to Cat 5 in less than 48 hours

this disturbance is sitting over hot arse waters, why is it so slow to organize and develop?

Because it was kind of created on its own. It wasn’t a tropical wave that moved into hot waters, it was created out of the Central American Gyre.

I had one into Pensacola Wednesday night but I cancelled in favor of driving. There's a high probability that airports will be experiencing delays.

We'll probably get a name and maybe a sticky at the 10am update. 60ish or so hours away from landfall.

There’s an upper level low immediately to the west imparting sheer and dry air into the area where the center of the future of the storm is.

For anyone who doesn’t know, if you want to the mph, to convert Kts to MPH simply multiply by 1.15
