You and I both know what the cone is for and how it’s supposed to be interpreted. But we both are smart enough to realise what people actually do with a track map. NHC busted on that, despite many models showing they were busting.

So because people are stupid, the NHC is to blame?

For days they have said impacts will be felt far outside the cone, especially to the east.

Tons of rain here in Atlanta but wind was pretty light, should clear out by 10 AM.

We definitely dodged a bullet.

Northeast Gwinnett checking in. Good bit of rain (and some gusty winds) overnight, but nothing too bad so far. Haven't lost power or Internet at any time.

Looks like the track now has the center of circulation moving between Jefferson and Maysville. Very happy to be on the west side of this thing. Keeping my fingers crossed that this next hour or so passes without any major gusts, and then hopefully we will be in the clear.

It was more fun when the talk of the hurricane thread was how a little camera down in Grand Isle could hang on and keep streaming. Now it's all bitching about cones every time, no fun.

To be fair the updated run has it going to Mexico.

Just like early on with Helen it has something spinning up but still has no way to know where it's heading

Although, the GFS put Helen hitting the panhandle very early on and didn't change after the first few runs

It's supposed to take a hard NW turn and be over Ft.Campbell by tonight.

I vote that we skip this part and just send the thing right up to Boston

There is nothing to debate. You spouting bs on a center line that is not absolute.

Just saw where Atlanta is now under a flash flood emergency

More water, less wind.

Hurricanes are more than winds.

I don't know about Florida, but Valdosta recorded 92. It was still a strong Cat 1 when it hit there

Isn't the updated center track still within the previous cone? That's how the cone works FYI

It's outside the cone. My house in NW GA was in the cone and moved outside the cone as the eastward shift occurred. The cone isn't static, it shifts with the forecast/modeling. The NHC corrects itself as new information comes to light.

The Hooch near U.S. 41 (Vinings/Buckhead area) is now at major flood stage.
