Savannah GA here. Entire city seems to be out of power and we don’t have a generator.
Where would y’all recommend we drive to for a hotel for the weekend? South to Florida? North to South Carolina/North Carolina?

Gotta think y’all would be back online in less than 24 hours. Jacksonville seems like they’d have plenty of options though.
Light drizzle here but no wind slightly East of Atlanta, figured I’d be waking up to some stout gusts.

Friend,
Mother had me drive to our place east of Destin yesterday to ensure that someone was there to protect it. We had borderline tropical storm force winds, and life is good. If you can make it to Destin — I do not know how the roads between us are — it will be a beautiful weekend. I just stepped outside and the air is fresh and the stars numerous.
Despite the fear broadcast, Atlanta will probably get next to nothing from this storm. The NHC grossly missed the last 12 hours, favoring a much more westward route. IBM once again showed its superiority to the NHC close to and after landfall.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

I’d rather face no power and a cat 4 than get murdered in my sleep by this psycho

Storm seemed to go a lot further east than anticipated. Pretty much all of metro ATL clear to Athens missed tropical storm winds. I live in Athens area and we did get a frick ton of rain but really very little wind.

Thanks. Jacksonville may be a good idea. Looking at the power outages and the whole city is offline so doubt it’ll be 24 hours
And yes they royally messed up with the trajectory. We were supposed to barely get clipped

I hope everyone is safe. Wind is actually picking up here south of Charlotte. I am guessing ~25mph. Maybe I read it wrong last night but I didn't expect much if anything, I thought it was going more west when it got inland. Not complaining since this is nothing compared to what others got.

Friend,
Are you inviting us to your home in Destin?

Friend,
It is not in Destin but a few miles east of Destin. And unfortunately, Mother does not allow me to host guests at the family beach house when she is not present. It goes back to a mishap in 2004 whose blame falls at my feet.
The weather now is a prelude to Front Day. And for that day, you will be invited to our Mid-City home. Do bring your best drinking chocolate to share!
Obtuse1, this seems much more a Charlotte than Atlanta storm. Let us hope that the Christopher Radko warehouse on the outskirts of Charlotte suffers no damage.

Lot of power outages here in jax as well. Looks like I'll be working today using a generator.

Seems like a pretty significant modelling miss once inland. The models were pretty tight on path and close on landfall.

I’m in northern St. John’s county, just came up into Jax. No noticeable areas of outages.

Power is out and we’re under a tornado warning in Charleston. The way the wind is gusting in spurts is actually pretty eerie.

What are the chances this thing makes it to the Atlantic and re-energizes?

Friend,
I must inquire, what was the nature of the 2004 mishap that precipitated such drastic, restrictive measures by Mother, lo these two decades later?
