Morning OT!

I am looking for a high mpg vehicle for mainly interstate use.

I am currently looking at Toyota Prius on gas mileage alone, but wanted to what others were driving!

TIA

LoL. You ain't getting anyone on theOT to admit to driving a Prius.

F250 jacked up and leveled with $15k of big rims and tires around these parts. Don't forget the truck nuts.

I drive 50k per year. Currently in a charger with a v6. About to roll over 300k miles. It’s been a great car with no issues.

Didn’t think I’d say that when I got it.

Tesla Model 3 Long Range if it’s less than 275 miles a day

Anything Japanese, 4 cylinder and you should be good. Avoid Nissans with CVT.

I’d look at Corolla, Corolla hatch, Mazda 3. Civic, albeit turbo, is probably ok too. Some of these get about 40 mpg highway and would be more entertaining to drive than a Prius.

If you need more room, Camry or Accord Hybrid.

If I’m commuting that much (and I have for years), I want something as comfortable, and durable, as it is economical. A fricking Prius may get the best
Mileage, but I promise you it’s not comfortable enough for heavy commuting. Nor would I want to be in an accident in one.

Some of these cars that people are suggesting, while they seem like good ideas, have CVT transmissions. Run like a scalded monkey from those.

If you decide to get one anyway, put $100 aside each time you pay a car note so you can have the cash put aside when your tranny shits the bed. I am not sure if these trannies are a poor design, or planned obsolescence.

Honda fit. Good space, easy to maintain, good gas mileage on the interstate (40-45mpg). I like that its just a regular V4 engine without any complications of being a hybrid or electric. Mine has 120k, and the only thing I have ever had to fix was a warped rotor.

Back when I was in sales I’d drive 40-60k miles a year. My personal preference was a small suv/crossover versus a car. Sitting a little higher made a huge difference with frequent stops and comfort.

Toyota or Honda. I am on my 4th pilot that has gotten north of 350k miles. Not the best on mileage, 21 avg, but so much more comfortable than a butt dragging car.

How long do the Tesla batteries last? I worry about replacement cost and the charge holding up over 100k+ miles don't see much out there on that

I’m up and down I-12 and I-10 a good bit. It’s about 25k miles a year driving but my furthest drive is Baton Rouge to Kentwood so I’m ordering a Tesla Model 3 performance after the first of the year.

I have a base model Sonata that does the trick pretty well. Bought it for 23K in May of 2021. Put about 25k a year on it. No issues so far
