True story: I was in the waiting room of my Urologist when I found out my wife was pregnant this last time. I was 42 and almost melted down when she sent me a pic of a positive pregnancy test. 5 seconds later the Doctor walked in and saw my face. That was a sobering day to say the least...and then we found out 2 months later that “BOTH babies were looking good” during an ultrasound.

Congrats!
Soak it all in. The years will fly by.

Congrats! You're in for a lot of work, but at the same time they will always have a friend to play with.

We have identical twin boys, and before they were born we received advice from friends who had fraternal twins, a boy and a girl. We followed the advice and have no regrets.
Their advice on how they treat their own:
1. Do not give them rhyming names and don’t refer to them as the twins. And don’t dress them alike (although this is hard to do because family and friends will give them matching clothes).
2. Keep them in separate classes throughout school (most public schools require this now anyway, but it is best).
My advice:
Pray for them every day.
Treat them like siblings only, and never foster competition between the two, though it will be hard, and at times, tempting (like potty training). Our sons are individuals with different friends, but also some common friends. They graduated from different colleges (big rivals) and now live in two different cities, but they talk to each other every day and support each other. Twins have a natural special bond that non-twins don’t have, but it’s best to let it grow on its own.
And start saving now for their college if you plan to help them.

I have twin grandsons and my brother has twin girls.
The bond they have is wonderful and at some point you will swear they are telepathic and once they start crawling it's over for you and your wife.
One thing that helps is hopefully you have a big support system to give you needed breaks. My wife and I kept the boys every weekend for about the first year and while tiring it was the best year of our lives.
One other thing, don't blink or they'll be grown before you know it.

Go out right now and buy 2 pairs of truck nuts for them while they are cheap. No telling how expensive they'll be in 16 years when they are getting their first truck.

There’ll be hell to pay until they start school. As toddlers.,what one doesn’t think of the other one will. They give each other courage,so what one wouldn’t do by theirselves they’ll jump into with no fear.

My twin boys are also my first and only kids and were born within days of Ed Orgeron becoming interim head coach at LSU. Now one of my sons will randomly hum “hold that tiger” and the other one just changed the name of his bear from Fred to Joe Burrow. Shits working out pretty great.
Just have the mindset to punt life for a couple of years and make it all about raising those babies. You won’t regret that approach. I don’t know how it is only having one but I feel like as a parent of twins you get the opportunity to be a great dad but also nurture as a mother would even if it’s out of necessity. It’s a team effort between you and your wife and if you stay patient you’ll have a whole new appreciation for each other a year from now.
God bless you and your little family sir.

I've got fraternal twins (boy and a girl) who have just entered high school. It's been a great, wonderful enjoyable wild ride. Enjoy the trip! They are my only children.
Congrats!
Get rest now, involve family to help out when they are young.

It almost feels like working on a Ford assembly line sometimes. You change one diaper and you get to do it all over again.

My boy and girl twins will turn 12 in a couple of months; since they are your first, you'll never really appreciate how difficult it is compared to a single child, unless you have a singleton later. I know with our 3rd kid, it seemed like a breeze.
It'll be fun. You'll get an amazing number of dumb questions about twins. Try to be patient with each other, and the endless sea of moronic humanity you will now encounter without the benefit of sleep or give-a-damn.

Like in Mario?
Honestly once one kid figures out climbing you start hearing the chair get pushed around.

Congrats man. They don't come with instruction manuals unfortunately. Y'all will just figure it out as you go. Mine will be a teenager in a few days unfortunately

All the crazy people stopping you to see twins. I had strangers come up to me wanting to hold them. I really disliked going out in public when they were small by myself. Pushing a double stroller with both of their seats attached was a struggle. Be kind to your wife. Lol I was a zombie. Take lots of photos and videos. Congrats!
