Fraternal twins as honeymoon babies, what a way to get into parenthood

We have been thrilled and blissfully unaware of how challenging it will be, and we like that approach rather than freaking out. If anyone here with twins has advice or horror/funny stories, feel free to divulge it. We are having one girl and one boy.

For now I’m soaking up my remaining time of sleep and extracurricular activities. I’m excited to be a dad.

That's about all you can do at this point....also don't argue with your wife in the 3rd trimester....more than ever at that time she is always right. In about 5 yrs you and her can talk about how much of a pain in the arse she was then.

My wife has actually screamed out loud at my face twice in our relationship and they’ve both been during this brief tenure in third trimester

Look up some of Ray Romano's comedy routines about twins.

My brother's wife had their twins about a week.5 before my brother turned 40. They're fraternal boys and deaf af. There's your horror story. They're about 18 months old now, and have had the cochlear implants for a couple months. Really slow learning curve adapting to sound. Now that you're freaked out a little, I will add perfectly healthy otherwise and seem to be coming around on auditory stimuli.

When they’re infants you can still do shite. When they’re toddlers you can’t do a goddamn thing. You have about six months left.

Ugh! Better you than me. Father of 3 young ones here.

This is going to be both the biggest blessing in your life and at the same time destroy the person you are. Take a pic of yourself today and compare it 3 years from now. It’s gonna be awful. Your heart will be full, but your mind and body will be damaged.

You better hurry up and go out, go to dinner, go to the movies, go on vacation. Because I promise you, you won’t get to do those things for the next 2-3 years. May be longer.

Good luck.

My wife found out last month that she’s ovulating on both sides so twins are a possibility for us. If she gets pregnant with twins I’m going to panic.

But good luck to you, I’m sure y’all can handle it.

Worst was going to the grocery store alone with two kids in a stroller, while trying to push a grocery cart. My favorite memories were those quite nights with those two little babies sleeping in my arms. Such an awesome time. It was never easy because they tagged teamed us and slept in shifts for a while, but once they start walking and learn manners it gets easier.

I meant horror stories more in the sense of them teaming up and boosting each other to reach things they’re not supposed to but fair enough

Proud father of twin girls here. Of course, I also had a 17 month old boy when we had the twins, so however hard it is, it could be worse.

It will be difficult, but you’ll get through it and you won’t even remember the hard times.

Aside from the difficulty of managing 2 babies’ needs, Twins are awesome. They have someone to learn from and play with. And all of those cute childhood moments... you get them twice.

When you get overwhelmed and think you can’t do it, just take a trip to Walmart and see some lady walking around with 7 kids and think to yourself “if she can handle 7 kids, then I can handle 2.”

Congrats and enjoy.

I keep telling people they could make a YouTube channel of people’s reactions to finding out they’re having multiples. It is something I will NEVER forget and remains one of the best days of my life until they’re born.

You'll need to get more sophisticated baby gates because they'll double team you. One will lift the gate and the other will crawl under it. You'll have to get the screen that rolls out sideways and is unlocked by pushing and turning the top. (Anyone know what I mean and can give a better description?)

We have twin girls that are turning 3 next month, so obviously we survived.

If one starts crying at night, dont worry about it waking up the other one. For some unknown subsurface reason they are immune to each others cries at night.

I'll comment more as more comes to mind.

Congrats! Like everything in life, the things worth doing are challenging. Parenthood is a great gift from God, you have to decide to appreciate the gifts.
