Having the mail held long-term

I cannot believe how difficult it is to get anything done. I’m going overseas for 90 days and the post office can’t hold your mail for over 30 days. And they can’t explain what to do. They said they would start re-delivering the mail after 30 days to my house. There will be nobody there. I have no one to pick it up. You’re telling me that this can’t be figured out ?

If you're in the College Dr. area, they already make sure you won't receive mail, no action is required on your part.

What year is it? I haven't gotten mail in 6 years.

You don't trust you neighbor?

There is a forward mail option right. Holding mail is a pretty stupid idea for 90 days if you think about it.

How It Works
If you’re making a permanent move, use this service to update your address.
If your move is temporary, you can use this service for as short as 15 days or as long as 1 year. After the first 6 months, you can extend for another 6 months.
Direct your mail to a new address with a few clicks and a $1.05 charge to your credit card (the charge verifies your identity).
Mail is sent piece by piece to the new address.
You will receive a welcome kit with coupons from our partners.

Give your neighbor a key to put your mail inside....
then watch him go through your crap on video.

Buy a PO Box and have a friend or family member go clean it out once every couple of weeks.

Have it forwarded to a UPS Store or other mailboxes place (or relative) and they will hold it for you.

When I was traveling I had mail forwarded to hotels a few times.

One of the niceties of small town living, or even outside a small town.
Since Dad died last year I spend most of time taking care of Mom in AR. Local USPO at my place holds my mail with no worries, no fuss. I pick it up about 1x/month or every 6 weeks for about 15 months now.
(plus the actual route carrier keeps an eye on the house/land for me, just because it keeps the whole area safer for everyone to look out for each others stuff)

They'd probably deliver it anyway even with a hold request. Has happened to me 4 times now. I place a hold, go out of town, then watch the mailman deliver the whole time anyway.

You don't have anyone to pick it up? Damn dude, are you some kinda a-hole that nobody wants to be your friend?

You can log in online & renew before the 30 days is up. Or get a big enough P.O. box.
