Dude, you're 24. I was 24 like 5 minutes ago. You'll see once you hit 30 that there isn't much difference.

It sucks when you're single in your 30s and just about all of your friends are married or in serious relationships. Plus their old ladies don't want them hanging out with you, cause they're worried they might get the taste of freedom I guess. And when you do get to hang out with your buddies, it's usually them bitching about their S/O most of the time.

I was married right out of college and missed out on my 20s. Now that I'm ready to get out and have some fun, I have to do it alone most of the time.

Go be a house dad for a fraternity at your local college, make younger friends, party all night.

Threads like these make me realize how many people marry the wrong person. If you can't go out and do what you want every now and then because your wife-mother disapproves and makes a disappointed face at you, then you probably shouldn't have married her.

That being said, a lot of this bitching is misplaced nostalgia about when you used to go out 6 nights a week in college and pound free drinks without hangovers. Those times are never coming back and if they did, it would ruin your life.

I bet you think you are going to be free and happy the rest of your life. But you won't be. You'll be miserable. I bet you grew up idolizing guys like Fonzie and Vinnie Barbarino because they got a lot of chicks. You know what happened to Fonzie and Vinnie Barbarino?

Their shows got canceled. Because no one wants to see a fifty-year-old guy hitting on chicks. One day you're going to wake up and realize that all you really want is someone to hold you and tell you that everything is going to be all right.

My dad got remarried when he was 52. She was 37. Lay off the guy. I don't see myself getting remarried any time soon. But sure, I'm open to it if the right girl comes along.

Things I would do if in OP situation.........

A. Tinder. Gotta practice on sloots so you can be ready when a keeper comes along.

B. Travel. Any city where it is cool to be single. Austin, Portland, Bangkok.

C. Get away from home. If I were in your situation I'd either be in Beaumont Texas or in Katy Texas. Katy sucks to be 30's and single. Beaumont sucks to be at any age.

D. I would have occasional opposite days or Bizarro world days. Like George in an old Seinfeld episode. Whatever your natural tendency would be in a social situation, do the opposite. Fight with every fiber of my being my usual shy urges. Speak to any woman when in bars or other social environments. Who gives a frick if you get shot down.

Staying home and expecting married friends to get you out of a rut is a recipe for woe. You'll either piss of those friends and drift from them. Or be set up on dates with girls from your circles who are divorced. Or worse yet, end up drunk and screwing one of your friends wives. It could happen. Enough beer and an argument and your the consoling ear.

So it's one or the other? You can't be married with kids and have friends as well? I say BS...... if you both have a fair and trusting relationship there should no issues with having a guys or girls night out from time to time. Must be miserable stuck up your wife's butt 24/7.

To the OP, find new friends via groups and local spots. Do some online dating as poon is super easy and cheaper than trying to court some needy chick who needs to be wined and dined. Most online dates ended in one nighters if not second nighters. Go out for drinks and the rest is history. Got a single buddy doing it now and is talking to/banging about 3 chicks. He spent no more than $40-50 on each date and Is 3/4. He is an average Joe. Good luck

Yep, some folks here don't get it. Grown folks can go out and have a great time, especially if you go to the right places, which I definitely still do with my single (and married) friends.

1) 95% of the time if I'm at a bar or brewery on a weekday it's between happy hour and 9 pm. Mainly neighborhood or local spots with good scenes. I think a lot of people are thinking like college when you never go out before 10 pm.

2) Other than occasionally going to hear live music if I'm at a bar on the weekend, its probably in the daytime and again, practically never after 9 pm or 10 pm.

In those settings I'm almost never in a bar or brewery where the average age is too much under 30, if not higher.

These threads tell me that my parents must be pretty cool because they did and still do stuff with their friends all the time.

It seems like a lot of posters are whipped and/or their dads were when they were growing up.

That's because you need rest for a full day of arguing on TD.

Bingo. I started doing the online dating thing back in the mid-2000's just when it was getting cranked up, and it surprised me how many bang on the first dates I ended up on. I can only imagine how much poon I could slay using Tinder if I was single. The newly-single divorcees were an almost 100% guarantee.

Also, as others have said, use meetup. I used something similar when I was stationed in Europe when I would travel to various cities on my four day weekends. I met some awesome people from all over the globe.

I got that out of my system in college. I'm in my mid 20s and I HATE going to loud arse bars now. I'd rather sit at home and drink with a few friends.
