My favorite are the “make me an offer?” guys like they have some hidden gem they’re ready to get rid of. No bud, how about you list a price and we’ll go down from there.

On the flip side, looking at boats lately. It’s amazing how proud of their shite fisherman are.

Last but not least pet peeve is the redneck confusions between the use of sale and/or sell.

Every person I see selling vehicles on Facebook marketplace appears to be a wannabe car dealer. Each will have like 10 previously sold vehicles.

"Just trying to gauge interest. Make me an offer"

Makes offer

"Cant do that but I could do it for 10k more than your offer"

I have zero issue with this. He won’t waste my time, because I know he will not negotiate. Any product is only worth what people are willing to pay for it regardless of appraisal.

I don't see anything wrong at all in the guy's ad. I know it wasn't craigslist but most other places are no better and the number of responses simply stating "is it still available?" are >5:1 over legit responses. As for pricing I have a firm policy either selling or buying: I'll negotiate but only face to face never by phone/email/text - if you're not serious enough to make the visit, then you're not serious.

I can sympathize with the seller but agree that is probably not the best way to sell a vehicle.

A few years back I put my Jeep up for sale. I got some ridiculous low ball offers. Also had a guy that installed windows for a living offer me a trade for free windows.

I hate buying or selling private-party.

They'll screw you over faster thsn any dealer, they'll lie, plus, they're usually half-wits with over-priced, poorly-maintained "story cars".

More often than not trying to make a deal on a used vehicle is where two assholes meet.

Probabaly not the best post but if you ever sold anything on Facebook you’ll understand.

Exactly this. I’ll get 30 messages “is this available?” I’ll reply back with yes and they don’t come back.

Or, perhaps I value my time over dealing with a bunch of knuckleheads with a FICO <600 ?

Those places serve their purpose.

Not for me, but I totally get why people go there.

I think he will negotiate, hence saying to make an offer

Again, I think this signs them up for either alerts or more deals similar to yours. Can't confirm, but I know that when I just watch someones vehicle, I get nothing but if I message them on it, then my feed gets dominated by that type of vehicle and when a new one is posted, I'll get an alert. A little finnicky at times though

The problem with selling shite is that you get fricking retards that come out of the woodwork. You almost have to put a disclaimer and even then, they don't fricking listen. I sold a older truck a few years ago, still worth $6K but I wanted it gone so I posted it for $3,800. I got about 40 messages asking me what's the lowest I'll go. I ended up having to put $3,800 FIRM but people obviously don't read. I scrapped the entire FB post and sold it to someone at my brother's work.

I saw a post for a free camper on For Sale/Wanted and the guy said "Stop asking me fricking questions, it's free. I don't know how much it's worth. IT'S FREE! Just come get the damn thing!"

I love the Honda owner ads.

"It has 764,932 miles...BUT IT'S A HONDA."

Yes, those overrated pieces of shite wear out too.

Or another good one is, "highway miles". We used to laugh at that stupid shite when I was in the car business. Miles are miles.

We had one used car manager that had been in the business 40 years. When he appraised a trade-in they would invariably say, "it's all highway miles". He used to look at them deadpan and say, "you promise me it hasn't been out on the lake?"
