This is like the #1 sign it’s time. To have let it continue when he’s as miserable as he seems is cruel. Please put him out of his pain.

Man up mother fricker. It’s tough, but do what you gotta do.

But don’t be an a-hole and let the Vet do it alone.
I just don't see how anyone could do that. I mean I get it is hard to see...but you owe your dog that much imo. Let the last thing their eyes see be your face.

This. Don't let the dog suffer because you can't let him go. I'm crying like a bitch right now. One of the most selfless things a person can do baw. The old dog sitting to my left is getting close.

Sounds like it’s time. Sorry to hear this.

We put our 15 year old golden down recently. Her back legs gave out and I was the only one who could pick her up to go outside etc. my wife and daughter told me I waited too long to make the decision and I probably did.
Sounds like you know it’s time. Whole family went to the vet, fed her turkey and peanut butter and sat with her until she passed. Glad we did.
Find a place that will cremate the dog, save a lock of hair, provide a paw print and a nice display box.
Good luck.

I work in the field. Too many people wait too long based on selfishness. Don’t be that person.

The only problem with dogs is that they don't outlive us.
You have to do it. They are a blessing in that they teach us love, patience, leadership, friendship and now for you, the loss of a friend.
Be thankful for the good times, enjoy your last times. This is the price we pay for what they give us. I'm a firm believer that all of the 4 legged friends we've had in life will be waiting for us at the gates.
Good luck bud. I'll come do it for you if you need me to (seriously <- @ gmail) but you really should do it yourself. Like someone said earlier, they'll be looking for you at the end.

This isn’t a decision friend. You aren’t choosing this. You know what you have to do. Good luck to you and Gods speed to your pup.

Sucks but it’s your responsibility to him to do it. Always reminded of this poem when a dog’s time has come.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion

You want to kick the dog for shitting in the house when it can't move. How about put him down so that you can move on to appreciating the good times and think of happy times again rather than the stress. Its time

Similar situation to my lab a few years back. Was very tough but he was living a miserable life and even he knew it. It’s best for the dog - stoic labs aren’t meant to live like that.

Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be nice... tia.
Ask your vet if he/she would be so kind as to come to your house to put him down. Mine did when I told him there would be no way I could drive home if I had to bring her into his clinic. Being a good ole baw with that LSU degree he said he'd gladly do it. Brought an assistant with him and they took old Jewels with them when they left.

Not gonna lie this thread made me cry about my little guy.
Just like all of yall, I/we had to put down a dog before. Our family Jack Russell. He was 13 I believe. Worst feeling in the world by far. He had cancer for about 6 months before he passed, but he still eating, moving around, and going for his walks like normal, but then he all of a sudden he started not moving and eating for a couple days and then all of a sudden had a seizure. He somehow survived that, but we obviously knew it was time. I think we selfishly kept him alive a little too long.
After that, we put him down. My parents and my younger sister were there, but I so wish I could've been there too, but I was in college at the time. I remember I was at an LSU basketball game when my mom called, and I instantly cried like a baby and wanted to go see him, but she said they already put him down.
I don't think we handled it perfectly, but like all of yall keep saying, you know when it's time, and your dog will let you know when they wanna go. They can't make the decision, so the least you can do is do that for him. Give him great final moments, final meals, and final hugs and make him comfortable before putting him down. And make sure you're there holding and loving him when they go. Wish I was there but my dog was around 3 people so I'm sure he ended up being okay.
OP, if you're dog is pooping everywhere, not eating and not moving, you have to do what you gotta do. You have to put him own. It's hard. It's gonna make you cry, but you gotta think of your buddy. I hate people going through this. Sorry for your loss and hopefully you and your dog have peace with each other. Dogs are awesome.

I’m so sorry. We’ve put down 2 dogs in the last 3 years. It is gut-wrenching devastation, but it’s the last gift you give your pet. You will grieve, but you are already grieving. Saying a prayer for you and your family.

Your baby needs to be put to rest and sleep in eternal peace. Goodbyes are so hard. Pets are our children ... our family. You are doing the right thing and what’s best for your dog. Please know and believe that.

Mine was 11 and she couldn’t get up to pee. Had a tumor in her belly. Was an effort for her to get up. I cooked her steak and let her ride In the cab of the truck. I cried like a baby the night before when I went to bed. And while I held her as they injected her. Worst time of my life. Have not gotten a. Dog in the two years since. And will be awhile before I do again. Just to hard!

Hardest thing ever, but he knows you'd only do the right thing.

i fully understand what you’re going through and i’m so sorry.
i was carrying my dog everywhere in the end - to do everything.
letting go is the hardest part.
it’s a tremendously kind and difficult decision.
give your dog the unconditional love it has given you.
in all ways.
personally, i’m not sure i’ll ever recover...
rip my girl.
