Have you ever seen someone reinvent themselves?

I had a close friend in high school who was the preppiest kid at school, he tied a sweater around his neck with penny loafers without socks and wore strong cologne, styled hair and wasn’t even gay. He then went total country, started chewing and dipping and carry spit cups with him everywhere, even wore a dip can mark in his jean pocket eventually. He is country to this day.
Of course that is nothing compared to what today’s youth are pulling off!
He went from this...

I knew a guy that went opposite. Started out country, always talking about rodeos and driving trucks, wearing the hat and checkered plaid.
Then he dyed his hair black, grew a soul patch and went total emo and weird for a few years.
He eventually went back to his roots and all is well, but everyone still gives him shite for his random emo phase.

Cut the dude some slack. He’s trying to improve. His last couple of threads he’s started haven’t been that bad.
Encourage the guy. Don’t continue to put him down.

Have you ever considered reinventing yourself into a less shitty poster or, even better, a non-poster?

Had a friend in high school go from white boy thug blaring rap out of his shitty subs everywhere he went to straight wanna be cowboy.
He was talking about cows one day to a group of us and his mother overheard and said, “shut up son, you went from 8 mile to 8 seconds. You don’t know shite about cows”

In NOLA, we met a young woman who was dating a boating friend of ours. She was totally into boating. They stopped dating.
Saw her a half a year later at a play at Tulane: glasses, preppy as heck, even had muted down the shade of blond she chose to be. Was totally into theater as was her newest boyfriend.

A kid in school who was very clean cut, wore nice clothes and hardly said a word. Today he’s a tatted up musician who’s done pretty well for himself. Was on The Voice a few years ago.
I saw him on tv and just shook my head like dang, that dude is total opposite of who I remember

Knew a chick in college who prob banged half the campus. Pretty much everyone on my dorm floor that wanted to banged her, then she was a popular fraternity slut. Then her sophomore year she joined the baptist group and was your typical high and mighty Baptist extremist.
All good to see someone improve themselves. Just hard to take someone like that seriously.

Oh yeah. A HS buddy started out the same way, went to UAB for a year and turned into some burned out hippie. Is now a pretty highly placed professional and still has the hippie thing going on after hours.
