There are several different reading plans that change to order to avoid getting stuck in the early books. Also sites/podcast that will send you a daily reading and provide some historical / religious context to the chapters. Did it last year with my morning coffee, just listening to the audio this year. Generally you need to read 4 chapters a day for a year.

Doyle:
Believe in the Bible, do ya Karl?

Karl:
I don't understand all of it, but I reckon I understand a good deal of it.

Doyle:
Well I can't understand none of it. This one begat that one and that one begat this one, and lo and behold someone says some sh*t to someone else - just how retarded are you?

I know Baptists have a lot more Bible study than Catholics,
Not true at all. I read the Bible daily. The real one. Catholicism is the original Christian religion and so is The New American Bible.

So you don't believe but you read it anyway?

Whether you believe it or not if you don’t read it, or are not familiar with it at least, you have a hard time understanding Western art, literature, architecture, and history. It is worth reading no matter what your beliefs are.

You think the average Catholic spends as much time reading/studying the Bible as an average Baptist?

I like my fantasies written in an more entertaining manner. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of interesting stories in the bible, but the stories are better consumed in other media.

I read the New Testament before the Old Testament. Glad I did or I'd have been really lost beginning with the Old.
The Living Word truly speaks to you. It sheds new light and reveals new messages with each reading.
60 books written by 40 authors of different origins and back grounds on 3 continents all referring to Jesus.

Always wanted to and never have. I bought a chronological Bible, that supposedly runs from actual timeline start to finish and hope to do it that way. Tons of Apps that help you do it too.

Yep. The entire Old Testament, probably twice. The New Testament, probably over 50-60

Links?

ETA: thanks for the anchor. I wouldn’t want to take up any valuable space on page 1 dedicated to bragging about farts and paraplegics being able to satisfy their internet THOT girlfriends…

Yes, but just for history, and it’s interesting to read made up stories and tales from back then. It’s also interesting to see people today, think that the Bible is still relevant in today’s world.

Did this after I was laid off in December 2019. Read everyday until I finished. Was an extremely satisfying experience and provided some much needed calmness at that point in my life. Combine COVID appearing shortly thereafter. Ended up getting hired in April 2020. Need to start another read-through

I remember starting it once. Not sure if I finished.
And I'm a King James man.

I have a KJV version my grandparents gave me for Christmas 1996 that is very important to me. Other than that, got a Bible app I set in NIV style that’s easy to read.

I’ve never read it start to finish. My grandfather did every year. Hopefully I’ll become like him where I sit in a recliner every night and read a few chapters or a book.
