re: Have you ever known anyone with HIV / AIDS?

I knew a guy in law school who died of AIDS a couple of years after we graduated.

A kid I went to HS with. Came out as gay shortly after and went wild. He died sometime in the nineties. I had lost track of him by then, and there was never any official confirmation, but the consensus was that it was AIDS. Weird thing is he was a car nut, vintage BMW's specifically, and there are still posts by him archived on some of those boards. The first time I saw one I did a double take wondering if I had my information wrong and he was still alive.

Yes. A high school teacher of mine and a parent of a student when I was a teacher. Both later died.

My step-dad’s brother contracted HIV and then AIDS in the mid90s. He was a nice guy. Closeted gay until the diagnosis. He was pretty ashamed and kind of disappeared. He died a couple of years later.

A guy in my paw paws neighborhood who did odd-jobs for him was a recovering junkie. He contracted HIV from a dirty needle. He was really nice and worked hard to straighten his life out but in the end, he got real sick and died about 15 years ago.

It’s crazy to think that had they both gotten the disease now instead of 20 years ago, they might both still be alive. That shite was a death sentence unless you had big money for clinical trials and stuff.

It’s crazy how doctors will basically cure this disease that these people chose by living a sinful life but they won’t lift a finger to help us baldness sufferers
