One of my closest friends found out she is HIV in December. She is gorgeous and was married for 13 years and has only slept with 4 different guys her entire life.
Unfortunately, she fell for some dirtbag who lived out of state and she had no idea he is into the swinger lifestyle. When she wasnt visiting he would be hosting swinger parties. She thought she was in love, so allowed anal sex.
In November, she had an IUD put in and tested negative. In December, she went in to have it adjusted and tested positive.
She immediately went on meds and her numbers are at 0 so she cant pass it on. Any future partners with have to take Tuvada just to be safe.
Morale of the story, do not have unprotected anal sex with suspect partners as it is nearly impossible to get from vaginal.
FWIW, the dirtbag denies he is positive and continues to partake in the swinger lifestyle. He is the only person it can be. Scary world.

Yes. My best friend's older brother was gay and had it. Over the years many of his friends that I met contracted it. They all died. Can't understand why, with that specter hanging over them during the 1990s they continued to be promiscuous and unprotected.

I know a distant relative with HIV. He was gay and had a drug problem. Life didn’t turn out well for him.

A guy I went to high school with moved to San Francisco in the 80s, came out as gay and ended up dying of AIDS in the early 90s.
A neighbor's young son got it from a blood transfusion and died.
A friend's adult gay son refused to get tested or treated until it was too late. That's the one I have little sympathy for.

A very good friend of mine contracted it as a young boy during a blood transfusion. This was 30+ years ago and he's still alive and doing as well as can be.

I knew a guy about 20 yrs ago, so circa late 90s, through business dealings who was/is a “normal” hetero guy who had HIV (not sure how he contracted it).. turns out he was dating/sleeping with a bunch of women without telling them about his diagnosis, one of them found out and sued him.. it was in the local NOLA news back then, but i’m not sure how the lawsuit turned out, or honestly if he’s still around today but-
