We are food for worms, gentlemen.

Yup, after I lost damn near everything. My psyche was utterly destroyed, and I had to build it back from nothing

Free thinkers can't be ruled, and the crazy among us are the true oracles. The rest of us are just playing someone else's role.

I don’t find myself pondering my role in life, so much as what happens when we end.
Science will suggest that whatever energy we possess must go somewhere, right?
All we know is life. Nobody knows death until it happens. Then what?
Religion would suggest that our soul lives on forever. What does that mean? I’d love to believe that in the afterlife, we unite with loved ones past and could still ‘see’ the goings on of the living. Maybe we could communicate with the other deceased. Who knows?
But as you can see, that is where my troubles are.

For sure. There's so much out there to see, taste, hear, experience and, instead, most days I'm sitting in sweatpants and a t-shirt in my home office wasting away the hours looking at a fricking screen and clicking a fricking mouse. I love my job, but frick that's a waste of life.
I'm also an atheist so I don't feel like I'm spending my day-to-day preparing for a kickass afterlife. These 60-90 years are what I have and, after that, I'm dirt...maybe help some grass or a tree grow if my remains are lucky.
Unfortunately, society requires us to earn a living, especially so if you want a comfortable living. I've found the key is reconciling societal demands with my (our) relatively meaningless existence and doing the best I can to appreciate even the small things in this life while I'm here.

Yep
I assume a lot of people overschedule so they don't have time to think about it.

An existential crisis is one that threatens existence. You know like global warming and shite.

I think your talking about an existential threat.

At least once a day. It's the moments when I think to myself that death is nothing more than before you're born. Something happens and ,BAM, that's it.

I’ve been wandering the philosophical wilderness for about three months now. I got nuffin.

It's depressing to think about. Just keep busy with family and work

Think of all the stuff you have that you consider important and special.
Now realize somebody else is going to sell it or throw it in the trash some day.

Some days, sure
Other days I’m convinced there’s more to it than we understand. The universe is aware of its own existence, and we are the sensors. Did that happen by accident? Nobody has the slightest clue.

There is no purpose to human existence, but individuals can fill their lives with meaning and purpose. If you told me I would die in my sleep tonight, I obviously wouldn’t be thrilled about it, but I would feel content that I left my little corner of the world a better place than I found it. Frankly, that’s good enough for me.
