According to the keeper of all human knowledge, Wikipedia:

quote:

An existential crisis is a moment at which an individual questions if their life has meaning, purpose, or value. It may be commonly, but not necessarily, tied to depression or inevitably negative speculations on purpose in life (e.g., "if one day I will be forgotten, what is the point of all of my work?"). This issue of the meaning and purpose of human existence is a major focus of the philosophical tradition of existentialism.

Seriously, is this all there is?

No, seriously. I have one shot of bourbon left and still have 7 hours before Lent starts.

There is no meaning to life. Nothing you do matters in the grand scheme of things.

You live. You die. You’re forgotten.

I accepted long ago that I'm not really important, none of us really are. Freed me up to pursue the beauty in life

2 Vanity[b] of vanities, says the Preacher,
vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
3 What does man gain by all the toil
at which he toils under the sun?
4 A generation goes, and a generation comes,
but the earth remains forever.
5 The sun rises, and the sun goes down,
and hastens[c] to the place where it rises.
6 The wind blows to the south
and goes around to the north;
around and around goes the wind,
and on its circuits the wind returns.
7 All streams run to the sea,
but the sea is not full;
to the place where the streams flow,
there they flow again.
8 All things are full of weariness;
a man cannot utter it;
the eye is not satisfied with seeing,
nor the ear filled with hearing.
9 What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there a thing of which it is said,
“See, this is new”?
It has been already
in the ages before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,[d]
nor will there be any remembrance
of later things[e] yet to be
among those who come after.

Yes. Every now and then I really psych myself out, when I realize there is no escape. At some point we won’t be here and there isn’t anything we can do to stop it. But then I realize, I didn’t ask to be put here in the first place and the world existed millions of years without me before I was born

Enjoy the time you have. Most of us won’t be remembered beyond our grand children

The key to happiness is in the present. We just overthink and overanalyze the past and future.

Definitely think about from time to time. Never felt like it was a personal crisis though. More of an existential ponderance.

I disagree. I think the point of life is experience life, whether that is jerking off all day, shooting up heroin while jerking off, or having different women every day jerking you off. It doesn't really matter as long as life gets to experience itself.

I've often had thoughts like these but I wouldn't label it a crisis. Especially as I've grown more comfortable with the implications as I've gotten older.

Maybe I’m just cursed. I’m constantly tortured over the universe and my place in it, watching the years tick by and reassessing my accomplishments (or lack thereof). My good friend is happy as a clam and never thinks about much of anything. He goes to work, drinks, hunts and fishes, hates on liberals, and will probably outlive all of us
