Have you ever called or texted someone and learned they are dead?

Happened to me today. I sent a message to my yard service guy and got a reply that said "Sorry you have the wrong number". I thought he probably changed numbers. So I did a bing search hoping to get another phone number and it pulled up his obit from five months ago. He only came by twice a year to trim bushes. Age 45 and died unexpectedly. I am saddened.

Yes. I called a tree service guy I had used before, and his widow answered. He died falling out of a tree. Awkward conversation.

I woke up one morning in high school and saw a girl I had talked to multiple times in high school txted me the night before.

I responded with something like, “what’s up hot arse” or something dumb like that.

No response.

A few hours later got on FB and saw she died in a drunk driving accident.

Felt pretty shifty.

Called a friend who was in nyc doing business and found out he had passed just before I had called. Was bummed for a long time.

I moved into a new office at work one time and the guy before me had died. So I got all of his calls and had to break the news to people almost daily for over a year. You get numb to it but most only knew him as a work contact and not personally. But a few people got really upset and I'm just trying to beat my minesweeper score.

I wished a former coworker Happy Birthday on Facebook a few months ago. Later in the day I saw a family member comment on someone else's post that he had died. I had no idea.

Yes. I did. His wife answered and told me he died....at first I thought it was a joke because he was a funny prankster dude...she started sobbing...then i felt like shite. He had a hidden pill problem no one knew about and OD'd. He is the LAST person I would have thought that would happen to

I think you mean best time, not best score. Nice try, poser.

Yes. A client of mine one time. We were working on a project together and I called after the holiday to Check In. Another person answered her phone and said was sad to inform me she passed away. Didn't give any explanation and I felt awkward to ask. The woman was probably in her early 40s and seemingly healthy.

Overheard a coworker make a comment about how another co-worker must be taking his sweet time getting to work one day.

Our boss came out about 15 min later after getting off the phone with his wife and told us he had a heartattack and died the night before.

Yeah, I had a friend of a friend that I would always hang out with when I went down to New Orleans. Last time I called him when I was down there I left a message. Found out a month or two later that he had committed suicide about a week before I called him.

Happened twice to me.
One was a real estate agent and the other was a mortgage broker. First time a co-worker returned my call and the second the guys daughter called me.

Hardcore sweepers call their time the score. And just like golf, lower score=better.

Naw Winston. I'm old and sick with cancer and need help in my yard. I wish I was kidding.
