Yes. Many times.

Uncle had a truck. He had a small mattress he would throw in the back and all the cousins would lay in it and watch the movie.

Saw Rocky, Smokey and the Bandit, etc.

If you have a teenage daughter, and she says her and her bf are going to the drive-in. That's a big "OH HELL NAW!"

When I think back on my childhood, the first movie I remember going to see was Star Wars at a drive in. I would have been almost 5 and had been to movies before, but seeing Darth Vador for the first time is something I’ll always remember. Minutes later I’m sound asleep in the back of the car.

Starkville had one 30 years ago that showed skin flicks late, and broadcast the sound on a low power FM channel. So on the way home from the bars if you passed close enough you could tune in to the moaning etc.

We have one in Memphis. I just don’t like having to leave my car (or battery) running for a couple hours to get the sound through the radio.

There's one in the Tomball area of Houston. Also one in Midland and another on I45 just south of Dallas. I saw one in Santa Maria, CA as well. They seem to be making a comeback.

Hell yeah, my first movie experience was a double feature of "True Grit" and "5 Card Stud" at the old Don Drive In Theater in Bossier City.

There's a drive in porn theater near Tyler, TX called the Apache.

Back in my day, it was $1 a car for my parents and us boys.

When we got older, we'd hide friends in the trunk, and get about 6 or 8 of us in for $1. Of course that restricted how many ice chests with beer we could smuggle in. All underage of course.

The damn mosquitoes were terrible and they sold some "Bic" at the concession stand, crap didn't work.

Radio app on your phone and a portable Bluetooth speaker.....problem solved.

Or go old school and bring a battery operated portable radio.

In Phoenix, as a child, I saw Star Wars, Orca, and Grizzly. Was hot but didnt care. Sound quality was no better than the mic at a Popeyes drive through.

There is still one in Marshall Arkansas. You can use the old hang on the window speaker or pipe the audio through the radio. Seems to work up there, but mosquitoes and humidity aren't as bad up there

They closed the drive in theater at McKellips and Hayden in 2011. Demolished it in 2014. Never got a chance to check it out.

Yes people would bang it out in cars.

Greatness

I told this one years ago but its a kick if you haven't heard it before.

Family to see 10 commandments.
Kids in back of station wagon.
Movie is very long. Lake Charles mid summer. So...They started it before dark. I can
barely make it out. I'm 16.
Littlest sister, 2, pipes up from the back: "CHANGE THE CHANNEL".

As a kid we loved when our folks would drive past the old Don Theater in Bossier late at night, hoping to get a glimpse of some skin..

I'm an old guy, so I've been to many.

The last was a double feature, in '74 I think, at a drive in at Santa Fe NM. Little Big Man & Blazing Saddles.

Great night.
