It is damned good for him that he checked your knuckles.

Was about to get on a plane in Charlotte and some dude in a hoodie tried to cut in line. I blocked him out and said "the end of the line is back there." He didn't say anything but the people right behind me immediately let him into line. My first clue. Then we landed in ATL and they let him off the plane first and onto the tarmac where he jumped into a Porsche and drove away. Second clue. (Not sure how TSA allowed that.) As I was getting off the flight attendant who apparently heard about the incident in line said "do you know who that was?" Third clue that he was someone. I just shrugged and was then informed it was Cam Newton.
------------------------------------------------------------
1) Cam Newton has to cut in line?
2) You didn't recognize the 6'-6" high, moon pie face of Cam Newton?
3) The people behind you let him in line but didn't say anything that might have provided a clue to his identity, like maybe, "Hi, Cam. We're huge fans. Can we have an autograph"?
4) When they let him off the plane first in ATL, allowed him to exit the jetway onto the tarmac, and then into a Porsche; no explanation was given?
5) Despite the secrecy, a flight attendant called you out about the incident at the CLT gate that he/she didn't witness?
Yeaaaah, I'm gonna have to call bullshite on this story.

I wouldn't feel worthy of that much attention.

LSU basketball camp is the only reason I know who that is. If not I wouldn't have a clue.

Jim McCrery lost his shite at Porter's Cleaners more than once years ago to whatever curbside service person asked his name when filling out a dry cleaning ticket.

Patrick Coogan. Dude was completely insulted I didn't recognize him. Maybe he was having bad night or something, but he was a complete jerk.

And that's when it became completely unbelievable. The flight attendant antagonizing him was just icing on the cow pie.

Dale Brown & Johnny Jones pulled that shite on a cop in a traffic stop back in the day.
I personally pulled the "do you know ???, he's a friend of mine" on a cop when i got stopped for driving intoxicated during my wild days.

I remember that, DB was a huge prick that day(very uncharacteristic of him,) he ended up apologizing profusely and went to great efforts to make it up to the guy and his agency(think it was LSP)

Rep. Barbara Norton pulled that on me at an event. I just smirked and walked off. She found out later who I was and called and asked for a donation for her "parade". That crazy lady has big balls.

Maybe so but do those customers have to wait in line at the gate?

I personally have not, but I witnessed someone do it at The Bulldog recently. A girl in her 20s was closing out her tab, and she starts telling her friend how her mom told her that if she ever gets poor service, she should ask if them if they know who she is. She was bragging about how she refuses to wait, and how it hasn't happened yet at Bulldog, but she has no problem stiffing anyone who so much as looks at her wrong. She may have even mentioned getting the place shut down, which makes me wonder who she was.
I was staring with my mouth gaping in disbelief.
