Pets are great to have around but they are just animals.
Anyone that touched by an animal does not have the quality of relationships with PEOPLE that they should have.
Yes people are jerks and will disappoint you in every way. But finding the right people that will live up to a mutually agreed standard in your relationship is one of the most rewarding things on earth.
Don't give up and settle on a pet. Keep trying and find happiness and intimacy with people. You can have both.
