I think this needs to be an OT holiday

I remember this well. He was a great man IMO.

I heard about it in 2004.
He was a determined man for sure.

Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things. Can't be said any better.

Thing is, there’s likely way more to the story.
Somewhere in the legal system, I’d bet there was a caveat he was fully aware of when he was originally purchasing his property.
So, he had zero recourse through using his own counsel?
Not saying this is the case, but beware the shiny object pulling you away from pertinent details. It is terrible how down he was to do all of this.

I want to know what caveat could possibly exist where a contractor working on a separate property can disconnect your sewer line and YOU are fined for it.

You didn’t even post the video, just a 2 point font Facebook thread? Clown thread bro

Exactly. Ole Charles seems to think ya boy should have just given up. But he missed the part where the guy tried everything in his power, likely over the course of two years, then finally had enough.

Imagine that, a government driving a reasonable man to do unreasonable things.

Small town politics can really be terrible. Just downright awful with lack of effective checks and balances.

Again, there seems to be quite a lot of conjecture.
Get past the “frick the man!” line.....what are the underlying details that the dozer driver was held to? Responsibilities that he may have had?
Because I pose some realistic perspective beyond potential propaganda, I’m now ‘Ol Charles’. Go dig a little.
That said, maybe he truly was railroaded.

The details
He agreed to sell for $250k, then upped it to $375k, then $1million.
Now, should he be forced to sell for what seemed to be imminent domain on a private project? No way. THAT is the actual travesty. That they forced him to sell in the face of rezoning.
Still, not quite the level of where it’s first posed.

I am not saying I would do the same if I were in his shoes.
But I understand.

Great story of a true American Hero, but it made me realize that I have never owned a vehicle long enough to have to replace its muffler.

That’s the most awesome story I’ve ever read. Hate that he killed himself, if I was on the jury I wouldn’t convict him.
No city should ever treat someone like that, I don’t know how it’s even legal tbh to deny him an access road and city services unless he wasn’t paying property taxes or something

I bet you defended the fricked up road too.

I don’t know the details of this case but I could see a situation where someone like him could have tied into the city sewer illegally or incorrectly and the city contractor cuts it off instead of repairing it. Hence the fine. As others have said it sure sounds like this man was wronged but this is definitely only ONE side to the story.
