Costco can do it

We used Legacy Box and converted 8mm, slides and photos to cd’s and digital. Very pleased with the results.

I need to get a bunch of camera film printed. We had to move almost everything out of our house when we have new floors installed, and I found 20 or so rolls of film stuffed in a drawer. They are probably from when I was at LSU, so Lord knows what's on them.

Years ago I had a combo VHS/DVD player that allowed me to do it.

How much did that Legacy box cost about?
Posted on 1/9/25 at 12:18 pm to SlickRick55
The website shows $625 for 40 videos with their current 50% deal.
I did it a few years back and it was cheaper, around $400 for 30+ tapes

best in the business.
he'll make DVDs, put digital copies on USB sticks and ship all your tapes back and his equipment actually improves the quality of the rips.
I can't say enough about this guy; I sent him 300 tapes and he had them back in a couple weeks, organized and not a single hiccup.
You just have to get over the scary "i'm putting my lifelong memories in the mail" moment.

$499 for 50 tape conversion; you get both DVDs and MP4s on USB for that price.
$649 for 100
ETA there's not a format he can't convert.

There are innumerable little doo-hickeys like this to be found at various places online that connect your laptop to your VCR and allow you to convert Beta and VHS tapes to MP4 in various resolutions. I have one that converts video tapes to MP4 at 1080 resolution. All I have to do is plug the Audio and Video RCA jacks into the VCR then connect USB or HDMI to the laptop, open up the software (included with the little doohickey converter box), click record on the laptop and press play on the VCR.
I think I paid about $40.00 for mine three or four years ago.
It's a whole lot less expensive than having someone else convert your tapes to video for you and you don't have to stay with it the whole time. It'll record on its own for up to three hours at a time.
Do a web search and take a look at all the different options. Some of the newer ones run from $120.00 to about $180.00 and include their own small screen monitor and record straight to a thumb drive.

I have done Legacybox a couple of times. Catch their sales or a Groupon. Don't pay full price. They did a good job. Sent updates during the entire process.

I had a few VHS > DVD conversions at Walgreens. No problems

There's an adaptor you can get on Amazon that's what we used. It's very cheap and works great. Plug the red yellow and white cables into the adaptor and it USBs over to the computer where you can save it as an .avi or .mpeg to whichever storage device you want
