I never has issues with brothers.
But the damned meth heads...
Hell it think it was 3 or 4 years ago two meth heads were fighting on coursey at the one the run. One had an ice pick axe.
This poor older black lady in front of me pumping gas was visibly terrified. I finally told her, "it's okay ma'am. If they come this way, I'll kill both of them before they get to you."
Immediately did that little half smile half frown head shake that every southern male knows too well

I wonder what Patrick’s username is on here? Scrolling his FB he’s got to post here. I used to live in Westminster and his “rental properties“ are indeed shithole flop houses. They were always having problems there.
I figured all the crackheads wandering up and down the Drusilla and Jefferson area the last couple of years were coming from bad hotels on Airline but maybe they're coming from Patrick's properties.

Everyone who donates makes it worse.
It’s 2022, the odds of someone not having a cell phone or a way to connect with ANY friends or family or not have ways to solve their car troubles via insurance/AAA is basically non existent.
No sob story in public is legit, ever

This dude approached me in the parking lot of the Chase Bank at corner of Siegen & Perkins about a year ago.
Well dressed and well spoken. Started his spiel with "I'm not asking for money." Then proceeded to ask for money. He walked up to my vehicle as I was ending a phone call -- he seemed offended when I made him back away from my vehicle in the middle of his spiel. Then I drove off before he could finish his sad story.
Then I called the Chase branch manager and asked if they approved of panhandlers harassing their customers. She said she would take care of it immediately.

I think more people should complain to store managers, and business owners about the trash panhandling on their property. They should call the police and demand that the beggars should leave.
People should also complain about poor lighting, and other unsafe conditions at a business. A business is responsible to maintain a safe place for their customers. Allowing people to harass your customer is not the way to run a business..

Ran into Kevin today at the Circle K by the Blue Cross building on Bluebonnet. Thanks to this post I told him no. I have to give him credit for a pretty good hustle, though.

No.
I do have compassion for people.
I stay away from helping panhandlers and would rather donate or groups that help them.

Not addressed to you J, just didn'twant to go back to the OP to reply.
For about a year, there were two black guys who worked the gas stations on I-20 in Clinton where we live. Their story was that their mom was in University hospital and they came over from Vicksburg to see her and didn't have gas money to get home to Vicksburg. I think the police finally got tired of them and ran them off. Evidently, the police can put enough pressure on at least some folks to stop them, or make them move on elsewhere.
I got sucked in ten years back in Meridian. Now I immediately tell panhandlers I am retired and broke. Seems to work, because I look like a really old fart.
I always thought it would be fun if a woman came up on a parking lot to tell her "I am a sex deviant and will give you $10.00 for your underware." Would be interesting to see what kind of responses you would get. I think if they ran to the cops I could talk my way out of trouble. would be tragic if I couldn't, so I never have tried it.

I never got scammed because I don't give people asking for money a god damn thing. It became a pride thing for me.
Just think about it. Generally speaking, if anyone reading this was in a jam in the city you lived in, at what point would it have to get for you to start asking random people for money?
Then when you see just how many people give them shite, then if they are really in that bad of a jam, there will be someone else willing to give them money, but I play the odds and the odds are.. They will be just fine if I don't give them a red cent. And there are two sides to this issue.. The people who give should hold some responsibility as well. When people are thirsty, they go where they can get something to drink.
People want money, they go where people will give it to them. frick these people.

I was walking back to my west campus apartment and a guy who said he worked for LSU dining and showed me an ID said he needed money to remove the boot or whatever. I had never heard of this before and he seemed authentic. He told me he would pay me back next week and I gave him an email.
Last time I’ve ever given anyone anything, I realized I got totally played and felt like a complete idiot. Got called a white bitch when I ignored some sob story at a gas station a few weeks ago.

I don't give my money to begging scumbags. Every last one of them is a POS scammer who would run away if you offered them gainful employment.

The right side of my closet is dedicated to clothes that are old, raggedy, useful, and comfortable.
That they make me look broke and disheveled is an understatement. I also generally don't do maintenance on the beard thursday-tuesday .
Oddly, that's when I got asked for money or "help" meaning money. Maybe they see white trash in me
If the wife or kiddo is with me, I feel obligated to be in at least decent slacks with some uncomfortable italian dress shoes, a button up, and a quarter zip, and the trash doesn't bother me. I assume because the ensemble screams old douchey guy
