Has anyone been blacklisted/for quitting a job

It might be called blackballed. Someone quit work today without a notice. On the way out, they said "if you even think about blacklisting me I'll sue the hell out of you". My first thought was how would you even know? If they call your former boss all has to do is throw slight legal hints. My boss is a tool so I feel confident that he would do everything in his power to hurt the chances. This person has only been with us three months and made a big deal on the way out.

Actually it plays a big factor I'm why many people don't leave. We all think he would blacklist all of us.

That's what I was thinking newiberia. This dude was full of fail today. It was pretty entertaining though.

Supposedly, the only thing a former employer can say is yes or no if they worked there.

My last employment move was in 1988 and everyone in authority in 1988 at my previous place of employ are dead. So no.
Additionally, who does shite that they could be blackballed for at work?
Man up and act like you care about who you are.

If you work for a fortune 500 company, your boss isn't fielding employment verification calls unless he is in HR

There's a secret website where fast food managers post pictures of all the blacklisted employees?
What the hell are you talking about?

It's pretty simple really. Just don't do your damn job, especially 3 months in.

Future Potential Employer: Dear Mr. Former Employer, I'm writing in reference to your previous employee Craze E. Nut. Mr. Nut seeks employment. Your opinion on Mr. Nut as a potential hire would be greatly appreciated.
Former Employer: Dear Mr. Future Potential Employer, After only three months of employment, Mr. Nut left our company without notice. On the day of his departure, he publicly announced his intentions to bring baseless legal action against our company.
That's not blackballing. I believe he/she is probably regretting today's actions.

So you are a little fish, congrats on the shite job

I don't think he is regretting it. He basically called me a racist for not using his buddy at our facility. I tried to explain to him that it's the buyers and myself who make the call. I didn't just decide not to use his friend.

I know someone who worked in the industrial trades and had a sweet gig making 70k+ in his early 20s. However he lost his job due to a medical issue, and has since had that issue resolved, but he can't find a job to save his life now. I think he's been blackballed among the big industrial construction companies. I feel for the kid, but what can you do?
