Law of Power: Never outshine the Master.

This has been done unintentionally, as I’ve kind of made a point to dumb myself down around him and be conscious he’s somewhat incompetent. It’s known throughout the organization but somehow this guy keeps trucking.

In a crazy round about way while he was out of the office, I ended up dealing with the President and Sr VP. Got some recognition for a project. Normally this would have gone through him but he wasn’t around to filter things and take direct credit for the teams work.

Dude has since drawn hard boundaries and excluding me from things. He was already on the ropes. Previously it was talked about me being promoted. Now nothing.

I think I’m headed to the classifieds at this point. Insecure boss doing insecure things.

Well in that case, outshine him some more. What have you got to lose?

This is what you get when you outshine the head fry cook on his day off

You should've seen this coming

Yes, but part of how it worked was being pulled in by another division “on loan” that became permanent.

He was an incompetent a-hole who only got the job because their preferred candidate didn’t have a degree from an accredited institution.

Outshining him didn’t take much once I knew my head from my arse.

If your boss has an issue with you stepping up and going above and beyond your duties then I would do the bare minimum for the meantime and start looking for a new job.

Classic case of employee thinks they know more and highlights themselves while the cat is away.

Did you think he would not find out of your insubordination and treachery?

Might as well sleep with his wife at this point and outshine him again.

If that's all true, then the company sucks and deserves what they get. Find another job.

Once y’all reopen the dining room he’ll be forced to let you work the register. Don’t give up.

I literally forwarded a document for signature. I’m very conscious of not being underhanded or peacocking. I stay in my lane, directly.

Office politics makes me want to puke. I am stubborn and stupid for not playing the game...and I get that.

I know I would have more money and be higher up on the corporate ladder by now if I would laugh at shitty jokes, kiss arse more, but I just can't do it.

I did, it got to be miserable around him. I transferred to another department on my own volition.

Yes, but I worked for the government then, so I couldn’t get fired.

Try Indeed.com. You will get a better job.
Seriously though, I outshined my peers and my new boss ended up terminating me after 29 years due to feeling threatened.

I once had a fist fight with a good customer in our parking lot who was about 15 years older than me. My boss had to break it up. And if my big boss got wind of it, bye bye me.

Anywho, nothing happened to me, and the customer started showing me respect and stopped treating me like a punk. We became good pals. The customer would also be a name that many in BR would know.

I gotta be honest, frick him. If people aren't available and things need to get done, I don't know what they expect?

Congrats on keeping that shake machine working through a whole shift. That's impressive.

I made fun of homeschooled kids (not really, I just said that I group some NASA employees as homeschooled...meaning they act weird AF), and my boss homeschooled his 3 daughters. We were sitting down for a meal together as well...it was awkward. I quit sometime later, but we still talk.

The worst situations are when the boss is insecure or incompetent.
