I’ve not but know 4 guys that went two years ago. Can’t exactly remember which route the took but I think they started somewhere around Fatima. They gave a talk to a group of spiritual brothers one night and it was an awesome story. No hard plans yet for me but I would love to do it one day.
FWIW, the guys were between 58-68 years old when they did it.

It was found early and I have a great prognosis after chemo and Whipple surgery, believe it or not. Some of you may remember my daughter was also diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer within days of my diagnosis. She and I are both doing well.

only here to say, this is great to hear!

Yes. Did the Camino Frances with a friend last year. 32 days to go 500 miles. Great experience. Started in May and the weather was great. DM me with any questions. Wasn’t hard at all.

I did it in 2012

560 miles from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela.

Took 30ish days and was tough and amazing.

Vaseline your feet in the morning and baby powder them at night.

Many folks had to quit from foot/toe blisters.

One of the coolest things I’ve done in my life. Did it with two of my best friends. Would do it again.

Do it, OP. Just do it.

I did the primitivo section. Apparently was one of the harder routes, but I didn’t want flat ground the whole time. Let me know if you have any questions. I highly suggest it.

My gf has done it a couple of times. Her mom does it every year. At 81, she leads members of her church on the trek. I never heard of it until I met their family. Now I want to go.

My parents (mid-60s) completed the French route of the Camino last year, about 500 miles.

My sister and I were tracking their progress with the life 360 app. What we did not mention to them is that we had booked flights to Spain to surprise them. Mid-Way through their journey we flew into Madrid, rented a car, and drove 4 hours through grasslands and mountains.

We were waiting on the trail head with our backpacks at 5am. When they finally saw us they broke down in shock and joy. (I think mainly because they saw we had a car haha).

We hiked with them for about a week then left them about 100 kilometers from Santiago.

The Camino is absolutely what you make of it. Time slows down. Your thoughts slow down and become clearer. The universal accepted theme among the hikers is that you make the hike your own, go at your own pace.

It seems like that seed is planted for you, so take a that next step.

Practically speaking, Spain is easy to navigate, and accessible. We used to live there so the medical system is quality as well should something arise.

Good luck in your search

Very cool. I’m 61. I think I’ve got some good years left in me.

If you follow Sean Dietrich (also known as “Sean of the South” on Facebook), he and his wife walked it a few months ago. He wrote pretty extensively about it.
