You talked about your underage daughter having sex. There’s no escaping that.

This. Our system of tying your healthcare to your place of employment makes zero sense.

You can thank the 1942 Stabilization Act for it.

Ive told this before but my granddaughter had a sore throat, puss pockets etc. I had to pay $550 out of pocket for a script I knew I needed before walking in the door.

Urgent care? Ridiculous. Of course, I'm able to give cash discounts. Somebody paying cash? I'd say $100 total with meds included. Their facility fees are bullshite and many don't meet criteria as a true urgent care. They bill a high level, new patient visit plus a swab that's not necessarily needed. I can diagnose strep by exam oftentimes. Your midlevels are ALWAYS gonna swab the shite out of you and then not treat if they're negative. No clinical judgement used anymore (this is many doctors too). Corporate loves midlevel providers. They're cheaper and will order tons of diagnostic test and be quick to refer to higher reimbursing specialists in their system. I stay on mine for doing too much. Bonuses are not based on diagnostic testing. I try as much as I can to discourage testing for the sake of testing.

So you’re good with scrapping Medicare and Medicaid I’m assuming? And social security and the military?
I hope you realize that all of these were put in place so that government would have more control over our lives.

If you honestly believe that these were put in place for your benefit, well, the joke's on you.

Yeah, her insurance was in effect yet and urgent care. Had to pay $150 before I could even register.

Doctor from Tulane used to run that practice. Not sure if he still does, but it has a weed shop in the back, owned by the same.

The last time I saw a doctor he literally took out his phone and Googled it.

The medical profession died a generation ago.

There are good ones, but like every other profession good ones are the minority. Too many book smart people got through med school but are too weak to truly understand the right thing to do, or they are narcissists who don't work for their patients.

Some may disagree but I am convinced the best route to with doctors is to find a small
Independent clinic or a private practice. They tend to not push a ton of drugs or stuff on their patients or unnecessary test and shots. The big outfits like ocshners gets kickbacks from the government for pushing that shite

Honestly who gives a shite. We live in a time that is anti science anti education. Thats cool.

But here is the reality, if you or a loved one gets sick you haul arse to the scientist (doctor) and if you have to have a procedure done at the science center (hospital) then thats what you do.

AAMC had a survey published in 2019. I guarantee it’s even more than 40% now.

Found it, although the percentages seem weird.

From the AAMC article:
It states:
”within six years of completing training, 22.6% of women physicians were not working full-time“

..but then goes on to say..

“ According to the University of Michigan’s Intern Health Study, almost 40% of women physicians scale back their medical practice, or leave the profession altogether, early in their careers.”

It’s obviously a large percentage either way, but a 20% gap in survey results seems screwy.

The other stat to keep in mind is that 20% of doctors are married to other doctors. I would bet that a large percentage of the female doctors who stop working full time are also married to doctors. In that case, I don’t blame them for valuing their time over the extra income.

And due to wokeness, this study will never see the light of day. Think about it, what if half of all construction workers were female and it took 10 years to train them. And 40% never went to work. Our infrastructure in the US would look like Somalia.

Truth. As someone who works with residents daily, the level of wokeness is absolutely disgusting. It’s to the point where the staff is sometimes hesitant to correct them in fear of being reported for racism.

They argue that politics is intertwined in medicine. It is not. I teach my residents it’s a tough world out there. Iron is only forged in fire. The amount of requests I get for “personal care” is insane

Social media has destroyed trust in doctors and destroyed this country. People will believe misinformation online than trust actual science. Social media has made people gullible idiots. RIP this country

Post Covid, its a shite show.

I would rather suffer than go to the doctor today.
That is as ignorant a comment as I have heard in a while. Let's see when you get a serious illness who you go running to.

Doctors no

Health industry yes

Doctors are just reiterating what the health industry is paying them for. Problem is the health industry mostly sells the patch to the underlying problem and doesn’t do anything to fix the root cause.
