These reservoirs aren't sealed on all sides with walls. The west and North sides of Addicks are easily breached.
The stupidity was idiots building homes right there despite being told not to.

Zero rain in Sulphur as we speak
It's amazing to me the way this is happening.

I can't even begin to fathom nature.
I have been told the most diverse and violent weather on our globe is from the Rockies to the Mississippi river, east to west and north to south yet that landmass darn near fuels the world...seems so counterintuitive

My cousins in West Lake, Sulfur and even Vinton are reporting high and dry While we can't get in touch with those in Vidor and Port Arthur.

It's bad, I'm in Orange county. Thunder and lightning have increased significantly the last hour. Craziness

SE Texas near the La border has gotten the worst the past 36 hours. Lake Charles has escaped a lot of this bad weather.

It's hard to imagine how bad it is. I evacuated yesterday to North Vidor. I pray your family is safe.

Thanks. I disabled or I'd be over there in my boat trying to get to some of them. I'd just be in the way now.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Damn. It's like this storm is dead set on only raining in Texas.
We are barely getting any wind in opelousas and no rain at the moment.

My fear is for those guys taking shallow draft boats down to PA in this weather. Easy to get swamped if not careful especially if they overload vessel.
Posted on 8/30/17 at 4:15 am to diat150
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why I'm under a tropical storm warning aside from offshore gusts that aren't making it too far inland.
Posted on 8/30/17 at 4:19 am to GEAUXmedic
Tweets out of Port Arthur are terrifying. Almost 35 inches and counting.

Think this is the reason most of these boats pulled back at least until daybreak. Hundred of folks are stranded in PA.

Thanks to the USCG! My son needed to be transported to the med center in Houston because his VP shunts were failing and we couldn't get out of kingwood(only place with pediatric neurosurgeons in town is in the medcenter). Luckily the USCG was giving rides from the local hospital and got him to the med center last night and he had surgery and they fixed his shunt and he's doing better!
Wife said he liked the heli ride and she said the breadth of the San Jacinto flooding was unfathomable.

Amazing the individual stories that will be told from this ordeal. Glad your son got the medical attention he needed.
