Looks like the 39" total in Dayton may not have been verifiable. These are 91-hour storm totals. It's ridiculous when you get 16.82 inches in less than 4 days and are at the bottom of a long list.

Lafayette has been clear of rain since about noon and no major bands near it as of now. If I were you, I would try to leave today if possible, tomorrow morning may have more rain on the way.

Yeah, I've seen the press conferences. The reporters keep misunderstanding the flood maps and think they're the result of the release, when in fact, they're going to flood because the reservoir continues to rise.

As for the release, it could/may increase Buffalo Bayou another foot or two, and any homes that are close to flooding may finally succumb to the waters.

They're not actively trying to screw people downstream, they just don't have a choice. They're trying to work up to 8k cfs released between the two reservoirs, and if the rain doesn't stop, that will likely increase Buffalo Bayou.

I don't understand how putting a release into Buffalo Bayou would NOT increase the bayou level. You are adding water. Either it's going to continue to cause the bayou to rise... or... the bayou is falling and it's falling slower than it should be because of the release.

Having said that... they have no choice... if that dam were to break... the results would be beyond devastating.
