Remember the key words "Public Compensation". That is all they are losing and according to one royal expert only means approximately 5% of what comprises their yearly take as royals of sussex. They are not penniless, and will continue to live a royal and lavish lifestyle were they not to do another damn thing. If what the expert says is true.

The royals are compensated with millions of dollars plus expensive perks as part of their job as senior royals. They are representing the queen and britain and as with any job, you have to abide by the rules.I
The rule maghan did not like was she would not be allowed to pimp out the sussex title and profit on it. She already filed papers a year ago planning to trademark and sell all kinds of stuff like shirts, socks, books, etc.
She is also very controlling about her image and hated that she could not control the press from telling the truth about her and exposing her for then narcissistic gold digger that she is.

Diana came from a family with money and a huge estate. Her royal lineage was actually more extensive and notable than Charles and the royal family. Her family lineage can be traced back to hundreds of years of royal ancestors.
Diana was young and naive when she married. She did love charles but charles was too busy cheating and dreaming of being a tampon stuck up cammilas twat.
