When meeting with multiple members of my team, I encourage them to pass out cards as a courtesy to the customer, so he can use them to keep his bearings and remember who is who.

I enjoy the fact that business cards are still a thing in this day and age. My only issue with t is when someone I've met with numerous times gives me a new one every time we met. I only need your card once.
I have a stack of them from when I first started working. I thought it would be good to save them because I figured I would one day need them.

Here is what I learned about business card protocol in Japan . You take the business card in your palm. You look at it carefully. You leave it in your palm as if it is a great treasure. You study it. You adore it. Potentially, you whip your cock out and jerk on it. All this will show you are properly impressed. Only after you have established that their card makes them a goddamned Asian superhero do you formally, and with great care , carefully put the card away.

Speaking as a customer under 35, we don't look at them.
We simply call/email the person from the company who helped us most recently.

Business cards a little reminder for your clients. I agree no one uses them for what they are designed for anymore but they just keep your name and company in their mind when they occasionally run across it.

I still hand out business cards. What if your power goes out? Then you can't view my email and contact info.

If my power goes out, I'm not calling vendors....

Which is why I hand out business cards to everyone multiple times. People like y’all just call customer service and then I get an email down the chain hours later when the issue could’ve already been resolved.
Thankfully I’m dealing with more involved/demanding buyers now so they call me direct.

He said when meeting with multiple people though. Have none of you ever been in a meeting with several people that you have never met or spoken to before? Cards can be helpful in such a situation.

I hope this doesn’t make you as mad as a 500 word post would make it seem?

when I go to a lunch and learn or a conference and they hand me a bunch of cards I position them in front of me corresponding to where each of them are sitting so I can remember their names and see their titles

If you're in sales, I get it. You're trying to leave the customer with as much info as possible, without being intrusive, so they remember you.
In many other settings it doesn't make sense.

It's not though. I'm not going to keep referring to the card during our meetings. Your picture isn't on it. It's names and titles. I gain more information by speaking with you and listening to what it is you do.

They’re in every packet I hand out to a client.
That way they don’t have to go searching for my cell number when reviewing the information later.
