I'm sure they were wishing they could have them back once they sat through one of your long winded and pointless rants.

Did you have the balls to tell them all this or are you just a tiny pecker with no balls?

that's not that odd to me. What's odd to me is the guy at the furniture store who gave me his card when we were just browsing. As if we are going to make the decision to buy that living room set and only wanna deal with Derek...no one else will do. Thank God we have his card so we can set that appointment up!

Agree 100%. I go to networking events and I don't bring business cards. When someone hands me theirs, I either connect on LinkedIn or email them right on the spot in place of exchanging business cards. Reason for this...it keeps the conversation going from the initial introduction. They will say "Thanks. Nice to meet you." then it's your job to keep the convo going via email or LinkedIn message.
Business cards are archaic. Just like office hours and dress codes.

Handing me a business card in 2018 is no different than handing me a dirty napkin.
I hand out business cards. Don't really care what you do with it. I like them for phone numbers and emails. I don't keep that shite in my phone.

Had these dudes come in from California to meet with our R&D group to discuss a project. I'd been emailing with one of them for a while to arrange this meeting, and he brought his squad, 6 in total. They dressed slick, they seemed hip. They sit down, we exchange pleasantries, and then they start passing out cards like it's poker night.
And these slick, hip dudes from California hoped on their plane and had a discussion about how this redneck, douchebag they had to deal with doesn't even have a business card.
