Where in any of my posts did I state the suspects race? I withheld that information for that particular reason.

I'm former LEO because I have a family to raise and it doesn't pay enough to support them.

You cannot use hand restraints with closed fists to strike a suspect. You cannot knee strike a suspect in the face. This is excessive force. What occurred prior to this video does not matter. It does not matter if the suspect struck the officer or not prior to. It does not matter the suspect is fleeing. At the point of the force being used the suspect was on the ground. The suspect was complying. As he was moving his hands from underneath him the officer began to strike him in the back of the head using closed fist tactics and hand restraints as brass knuckles.

Use of force chart the head is a red area meaning no strike.

The lack of additional details, your admission to being a former law enforcement officer, and the amount of time on the board all suggest to me that you posted this video because of something personal. I may be wrong, but call it a hunch.

Former LEO at a different department. Nothing personal. No other details other than what I've provided. I discussed this video with other LEO's I know some in that department who believe it to be excessive. It's why I shared it on the board.

Failure to comply.

I've always complied with the officers requests.

I've never had any problems.

Seems simple enough.

It's amazing how hypocritical people can be when it comes to cops and excessive force

Disclaimer: Have not watched the video. Jut a few points

It is considered in regards to the officers perception of perceived danger.

I'm guessing you are referring to the Monadnock Defensive Tactic Chart. Monadnock does not make the law....they only certify you in their system. Just because Monadnock doesn't allow it does not make it illegal.

Furthermore, the red area refers to baton strikes. But again that is not law....only what they teach.

You can't, and no policy manual I have ever read in any department I ever worked for allowed it.

Same response as before.

Especially if the suspect is not actively engaging the officer.

quote:

It is considered in regards to the officers perception of perceived danger.

The suspect has completely disengaged from the officer and is laying on the ground. The officer did not allow ample time for the suspect to actually move his hands towards his back before being struck in the back of the head.

Proper response from the officer should have been placing a knee on the suspects back and utilizing his baton to pry the suspects arm behind him if he not complying in order to have the suspect comply. Not utilize closed fists with hand restraints to beat the suspect in the back of the head.

I am talking about standard use of force policy. In all use of force policy's striking a suspect in the rear of the head is not UNLESS it is a dier situation that said officer is actively in fear of his life.

He shouldn't have made those cops run. They should've cracked his skull with a baton.

It's a hallmark feature of southern conservatives. One of the most hypocritical things you can find.

Maybe one day they will have a parade to honor these two officers. People can line the side of the road as the procession honors their service.

I despise thugs with badges.

So when something bad happens to a cop you say " don't try to arrest bad guys,it's very simple dealio"?

I bet that is a one way street for you.

I don't care what happened before. It has no bearing on how the should treat a suspect.

They should use all force needed to subdue and take him into custody. No force should be used to administer justice or vent their frustration.

However I do agree that race is immaterial as well.

I never thought I would see an officer of the law share something like this. This will only get better once the thin blue line stops sheltering these assholes.
