Do they really do that? I've always assumed that it was urban legend but I don't know any gang members.

About to head to Florida from Metairie.
Think I am going to go over the causeway to Slidell and avoid the East.

An absolute shithole of a city run by a woke idiot. I love being from Louisiana but I’m also glad I left.

Well, why can’t SP help on I-10?
Was that anywhere in the article?

The New Orleans chief says State Police does not have the capacity to help, saying they are overloaded with other work.

We did the same last week. The problem is coming home. I12 is backed up for a good ways before Causeway usually.

A serial killer on the interstate

It’s more than one apparently. Maybe more than 2-3. And it’s a coordinated effort. This is really a bad thing not just the typical hood rat murders.

NOPD is tight-lipped with descriptions. There are some vehicles described, but that's about it. I think the caliber of the slugs collected has only been released twice.

"Two weeks ago, on a Tuesday morning, a commuter from New Orleans East pulled his work van onto I-10 headed westbound. Between the exits of Read and Crowder boulevards, two pickup trucks without license plates blocked the lanes in front of him and decelerated.

One of the two eased into the left lane and slowed more, dropping beside the work van, while his confederate in the truck directly ahead of the commuter reduced speed to 10 miles per hour.

The commuter looked at the driver beside him as if to ask what was going on. Then, without answering, the driver, a man the commuter in the work van did not know, raised a handgun and opened fire.

Any one have a statistical count of the total amount of shootings?

Their refusal to participate in the investigation is reason # 3,456 why their name should be changed to Highway Patrol from State Police.

We are who we are.

I've searched Google and can't find it but I'm pretty sure that parishes/cities contract with LSP for interstate traffic assistance. I know for a fact that JPSO defers all interstate and state HWY (for example Airline Drive) traffic duties to LSP. I'm not sure if JP pays for this or if NOPD gets a credit back from LSP but I think it is something along these lines. I think for a short period LSP was handling traffic on I-10 in Orleans Parish but the deal ended as NOPD wanted to take it back over. Anyone know about this?

Problem is they really can't say what needs to be said NOR do what needs to be done.

LSP is statutorily mandated to patrol rural areas, aka non-incorporated areas.

So while LSP may venture into New Orleans, Kenner, Gretna, BR, etc. the city is responsible for handling the calls for service.

LSP was working overtime on I10 in the east but the city failed to pay the OT bill so the contract was canceled/not renewed and LSP disappeared.

Similarly with the FQ, but LSP was ordered by the Gov and the businesses in the area voted and agreed to pay an extra tax for LSP to be there.

Latoya didn’t like not having the money so the tax renewal wasn’t put back on the ballot so it expired and LSP left. Three months later it was back on the ballot and passed but the money goes to the city now.
