18 year olds aren’t “minors.”
Yep, You can sign up for the military and potentially get killed in action somewhere around this globe but you can't buy alcohol for another 3 years.
Stupid law.
I was 35 when this state raised the age limit from 18-21 and I've never agreed with it in all this time.

Richard Clementi Is this the former UFC fighter’s son ? If it is I think he was a 4-time state champion wrestler.
Pretty sure it is. The kid wrestled for Brother Martin.
I think I know who of the gay owners of the Brown Door. I just went to his Facebook page and he’s got a post from recently that he was asking people to sign a petition to not let Hammond change the law that would stop 18-20 year olds from being able to get into bars.

Sports in Tigerland would let anyone over 18 enter but over 21 got a wristband so they could buy drinks. Somehow, a bunch of those wristbands ended up scattered on the floor every night.
there was a bar on East Side of Houma that barely even carded anybody.
pretty much if your bicycle no longer had training wheels, you could get in.
no wristbands or stamps or anything for over 21.
then when you walked up to the bar, nobody ever asked for an ID, just sold you what you wanted.
needless to say, that bar got raided after a couple years and was shut down.

The items belonged to 18-year-old Richard Clementi, who was soon found asleep in the sanctuary of a nearby church.
So he can fight and die for his country, sign legal contracts, be charged as an adult...but god forbid he have a drink.

quote:Augustine's was my hangout for my years at Southeastern. Some of the nicest people in the world there - still friends with many to this day. $4 pitchers of beer and dollar drinks during the week.
I damn near lived in The Brown Door and Mule's when I went to Southeastern. This is nothing new. Old baw needs to learn to handle his liquor. It says he went to church to sleep it off. That's pretty funny.

"...but they laugh a lot behind The Brown Door..."

IIRC, they marketed it as "auto insurance premiums will go down if we change the drinking age".
It was so the State could keep federal highway aid. The feds strong armed the state. Blame the MADD lobby.

The Brown Door just never accepted the 21yo law change many years ago. Nothing new here.

Detectives watched the surveillance footage from the bar the night before and found that in just three hours, the bartenders made 116 alcohol sales to underaged customers, including Clementi.
How can they determine they were underage just from watching video?
