Had a badass 8th grader in my class my 1st year of teaching. Named Bernard. He was one suspension away from being expelled and I had to put him out of class one day and he refused. So I grabbed his coat sleeve and said, “Come on, get up” and he started thrashing all around. I eventually had to call the principal to have him removed, and he was suspended and an expulsion hearing was scheduled. Well I was asked to attend the expulsion hearing and he ended up getting expelled. Afterwards I was sitting out in the hallway and his grandmother saw me and said, “I don’ preciate you rippin Bah-nard’s jacket. I’m gon’ get you - just you wait.”
That was in 1998 and she still hasn’t got me
Years later Bernard was arrested for murder - his little brother was involved in a kidnapping/rape and is also incarcerated
