Well, on Saturday, I'm making one stop to get my whiskey and meat to prepare for LSU baseball. Enjoy the extra stop. Don't forget to reply to this thread when you in line to buy liquor. I'll reply from my couch.

Will do.

Except I also have the advantage of having a Specs Liquor in the same parking lot. And if you know anything about Specs you'll know you just lost this argument

Randal's is whole foods prices for the quality of a Kroger at best.

Central Market has the best bakery and meat/seafood

Rouses is terrible in comparison. HEB is by far a better store and experience. I don't see how this is even a discussio

I think HEB is better, but I don't think Rouses is "terrible in comparison". I think they actually have some similairities, which is why I have often said HEB should buy Rouses.

Randall's is the most expensive grocery store out there. And they have shite products.

I don't know how the few that are left open in Houston still manage to survive.

And the founding dude's name was Howard Butt. Used to do some Paul Harvey type shite about being a good human on the radio. The high calling of out daily work.
Good stuff

Laity Lodge. And it's the son of the founder that does the radio spots, or at least it was when I lived in Houston.

To be real Rouses/Dorignacs seafood > HEB in terms of quality, local fresh, price.

Weighted in overall value compared to HEB I admit it's still minimal. I live near 5 extraordinary HEB's and they are all great but boy do I miss fresh head on gulf shrimp at 5.99, P & J oysters, and gulf redfish/ snapper. Also HEB boudin is spelled BoudAIN and is a fail compared to even basic LA store sold Boudin. Also outside of Prasek's brand you can't get friggin good ol smoked PORK sausage.

Those are simply differences between LA and Texas. Just like Rouses doesn't have homemade tortillas and Rouses brand salsa is crap.

All the more reasons for a merger - so they can share these items.

Spec's selection >>> any LA grocery store selection

So... I guess a second stop is fine.

I'd add Mexican food (El Rancho, El Jarrito, Lupe Tortilla, etc) and the Katy school district to that list, but yeah.

I live in Baton Rouge and Drive to Houston to buy groceries just because it is that much better!

Well not really but I do have family that lives in Katy and HEB is awesome especially their meat department.

Whenever we go to Houston I pack an ice chest and do a stop on the way back home.

More than once, I have considered waking up on a Sunday morning pretty early and driving to Orange, TX, to hit up an HEB. Add in a stop at Best Stop and Billy's on the way home.
