To be real Rouses/Dorignacs seafood > HEB in terms of quality, local fresh, price.

Weighted in overall value compared to HEB I admit it's still minimal. I live near 5 extraordinary HEB's and they are all great but boy do I miss fresh head on gulf shrimp at 5.99, P & J oysters, and gulf redfish/ snapper. Also HEB boudin is spelled BoudAIN and is a fail compared to even basic LA store sold Boudin. Also outside of Prasek's brand you can't get friggin good ol smoked PORK sausage.

You've obviously never had their in-house aged steaks or spicy guacamole.

Well, my Winn Dixie has cheap Jim Beam. How much does Beam cost at HEB?

Hopefully there are better Pubic's than the ones along emerald coast, correct? Because the ones I have visited are more like Winn Dixie caliber. Like a badly diseased HEB.

Point conceded.

Rouses on Bertrand in Laffy has an incredible selection of sausage. All of us LA expats miss that. Wasn't that long ago that I could get fresh Gulf yellowfin for $3.99/lb at Rouses. It was $23/lb. two weeks ago at HEB.

Grocery stores in Texas don't sell liquor sadly. Luckily we have Spec's.

Well, if we splitting hairs here, how can HEB be the best if I have to make two stops to make groceries??

Yep. pisses me off because we are still right on the gulf. That's my only quib with HEB. Guess they just don't have the market for it. All beef in Texas.

I've never seen the excitement about a freaking supermarket and a gas station like that which comes from Texans.

We don't make groceries in this part of the world. We go grocery shopping or go to the grocery store.

Took me 3 years to break my wife of this asinine saying.

Agreed. HEB is the only grocery store I've been to that makes me enjoy shopping. One of my favorite things about living in Texas.

How long you been in TX? This is a common theme amongst new transplants from LA. I know I die a little inside when I set foot in the Broussard Albertsons.

They have food and gas, and no lines.

Unless they were putting weed in each bag, there really isn't a whole lot of difference between chains.

H-E-B is the best grocery store chain in America and it's not even fricking close.

Apparently y'all need to make two stops to "go grocery shopping". Don't care how y'all Texans want to spin it, but if you can't buy whiskey at the grocery store, it's not the "best grocery store" on the planet.

And there is no debate on that.
